I wouldn't say they're choosing "celibacy". But I do think a lot of men are choosing to live a "no strings attached" sort of lifestyle. No complications. Red flags are usually momentary blips in your dating experience and then you say bye to them without remorse. And just keep doing you.

And I think it's tough for some guys, especially in larger cities which tends to have the most hard-headed people in general, men and women, dealing with a female who doesn't think she needs to improve anything about herself and she's just the epitome of what it means to be female, by hating dude-kind, trashing dude-kind to your face, and then trying to get into dude-kind's pants, after which trashing dude-kind all over again.

Not all chicks are like this, but you never know who you're going to get, and sometimes the red flags don't start to pop until a month or two into the relationship when everyone starts to feel more relaxed in the relationship.

As such, why even take that chance that you'll end up developing feelings for a crazy person? That's just modern guy logic. We tend to hate complications, and we hate having to conversationally tiptoe around crazy people's feelings, beliefs, etc., else deal with the wrath of the daughters of Mother Goddess.

I took a year off from woman a while back and probably was never more focused, healthy and productive in my life. I enjoyed it so much, I did it again. Didn't ask for anyone's number, never texted anyone back, was busy almost every night I got invited out etc.

For me, it was primarily because I had enough money saved finally to buy a house without a mortgage. Yet it would require moving far away from Tokyo (too rich for my blood).

I see; I think I heard similar predictions before that something around half of women will be childless in the future. A general problem I think that poses and we are facing that here in Japan as well is that it will tend to leave behind a population of mostly elderly people. The economy tends to be structured in a way where it needs some ratio of young people contributing to the economy to support the elderly.

So I think we might need to make elderly less dependent on young people, less dependent on social security, on others providing food, medicine, etc. People need to plan well in advance for their retirement. Immigration might be able to solve this problem in the short run but even the immigrants might cease to have children at some point as well after assimilating into the cultural trends that cause women to cease bearing children and men to opt out of marriage.

I dunno if men are “opting out” on decent women. It’s just that decent women are harder to find given the “modern” culture we now live in. That doesn’t mean they still exist. They definitely do they often get scooped up quick. Or they started out decent but maybe got burned bad by a guy or two and then “rebel” because they can. It’s far easier to be promiscuous if you are at least a semi attractive woman vs her male counterpart (not saying it’s right either way)

Also about celibacy. Very few guys are truly sexually “pure”. I have met a few unique guys who claim they don’t even masterbate. But porn addiction is a very serious problem for men nowadays (and some women as well).
