It depends what you want or had intentions to consume. If it was the wedding dinner and wedding cake, the guests will be happy since they will have more to eat if they don't have to share with the groom.
Now, my guess is that it may be a very expensive decision you take if you signed a contract and all depends on how it was phrased, your spouse might actually be very happy about getting all that kind of money that you are willing to give her without eating the wedding cake.
I am sure that in today's crazy society, things like that have happened before...
you would be surprised :D
Yes, it would be an annulment then so not the same as divorce
It happens sometimes, I think it's called annulment. The idea is that if you do it fast enough you don't have to go through the whole divorce process, you can just stop the marriage from being finalized or documented or whatever instead.
It's okay legally speaking, and if you know immediately that the marriage was a mistake I'd definitely recommend it.
Well I don't know if that's legal. And if you want to do it and not get caught, you'd have to at least pretend to not plan on divorcing and then stay married for long enough that you can't just get an annulment. If you live in a place where no-fault divorce is allowed though, and both parties are on board, then I guess it wouldn't be too hard to do. It would cost some time and money though.
It probably happens more often than people think.

Whoever does that doesn't understand the purpose of marriage.
I'm sorry that society has made you believe that marriage is that toxic. The purpose of marriage for us is to create this safe environment for our children. From a wife's point of view the purpose of my marriage is to be a loyal and obedient wife to my Husband to take care of him and our kids and make sure that they always come home and feel that they're in Heaven. Marriage is sacred to me and my Husband. It may seem that I'm romanticizing everything but the truth is that is very possible to have a great relationship as long as the both of you are on the same page and have similar values. Marriage is great when you find your partner in crime it doesn't always have to be toxic.
Well, a lot of people these days doesn't understand the true purpose of a marriage. I've seen a lot of people getting married just because they wanted to experience a wedding, others to show it off on social media, others because they think marriage is going to fix the issues in their relationship yadayadayada etc etc etc. They don't understand the true purpose of marriage nor the role of a Wife and a Husband. I recommend everyone planning to get married to gather as much information as possible on what your roles are in a marriage, a lot of people are not ready for it. I know we are in 2024 and not all women are expected to stay home cooking all day but a lot of those values of a traditional marriage are still important and appreciated by some. And if you think marriage is not for you it's okay too.
Sounds like a scam to get someone a green card.
If you don't consider marriage an event of religious significance anything is possible.
What's the point of getting married then if just divorce?
That's like playing Russian Roulette with no prize. Why would a guy want to do such a thing.
Why would you do that?
Yeah, sounds like a great idea. 🙄
It's called an annulment and it happens..
