How do you help your husband prepare to be ready for children?

My husband and I have been married for 2 years. I am 3 years older than him so basically I have been ready to start trying for kids since our honeymoon but I was on birth control for the first year of marriage.

We have both always agreed on wanting kids and even how many. What we struggle to agree on is the timing. My husband is mostly concerned about finances. He has a good career. He is a blue collar worker and he works very hard. We are doing better financially now than we ever have.

For as much as I know that I have “plenty of time for kids” I feel that the biological clock is ticking. I’m 27 and I already struggle with fertility due to PCOS.

Even though I would be happy to be pregnant asap as in 2 years ago, I know that he isn’t ready. How do I help him get there? I don’t want to force him into fatherhood. But he also doesn’t understand what it’s like for women who desire to be mothers and are worried about their body’s ability to make that happen (no matter how much I try to explain it).
