+1 yIt means marriage requires some work. Not all marriages are perfect. It requires effort from BOTH parties. You took a vow to accept the other person for better or for worse, for sickness and in health.
Nobody said marriages are easy. It’s a lot of dynamics working together and it requires compromise from both people.
While everyone is saying “it means you fucked up” it really means they have no clue what it’s like to have a marriage where both people need to make a compromise and don’t know what it’s like to have a special bond with another person enough to call them their other half. Everyone wants all the good parts of the marriage but not the bad parts and that’s simply not true. If you regret your marriage it shows that you’re not willing to put in the effort to make it work and settling for somewhere in the middle. Just because things don’t go your way doesn’t mean you should just quit. If that’s how you see it then you’re better off just marrying nobody but yourself.
If you want a committed marriage with love and trust with another person you’ve got to put in the work and be flexible with the other person for that successful marriage to be successful. It’s honestly immature to just quit because things don’t go your way. It’s definitely a team effort and it needs to be treated that way.10 Reply

Regretting marriage later means feeling that the decision to marry was a mistake. This could arise from various factors such as discovering incompatibilities, unmet expectations, or changes in feelings over time. It might also stem from ongoing conflicts, lack of communication, or unaddressed personal issues. Regret can be a complex and painful emotion, often leading to feelings of sadness, frustration, or confusion about the future. It's important to reflect on these feelings, consider the underlying causes, and seek support, whether through open communication with your spouse, counseling, or talking to trusted friends or family, to navigate the situation and decide the best course of action.

It happens more than you think. My mom has been married to my dad for 33 years. She told me when I was 25, that she wouldve been way better off being married to someone else. She said " if i were young and had the chance to do it all over again, I wouldn't have married your father"
I have known myltiple other women who have said the same thing.
It is important that you and your spouse share the same ideas, values, lifestyle, have similar idea of what is ok and what isn't ok. Because reality is, if you both have a different idea of what is ok and what isn't, it will lead to trouble down the line.
People tend to marry those who they are passionate about. Rather i think marriages have a much higher success rate if both persons are similar in age, culture, education, values, morals.

It could mean any of the following..
Unrealistic Expectations
Lack of Communication
Personal Growth and Changes
Unresolved Conflicts
Infidelity or Betrayal
External Pressures
Mental Health Issues
Loss of Individual Identity
Cultural or Religious Differences
Misalignment of Life Goalsand so on.
This is why its important to really get to know a person before you marry them. The best way to avoid these issues is communicating and actually knowing what you want out of a marriage.

AskOh, diving into the deep end of the love pool, are we? Regretting a marriage later can mean a few things. It might be a sign that the expectations didn't match the reality. You know, like expecting a romantic comedy and ending up in a drama series. Sometimes, it's about discovering new sides to your partner or yourself that you weren't aware of before, which can feel like reading a book and realizing it's not the genre you thought it was. It could also stem from growing apart or facing unresolved issues that were hiding under the rug of love. The trick? Communication, darling. It's all about talking it out, maybe with a sprinkle of professional guidance. Remember, understanding the root of that regret is like unlocking the door to either fixing things up... or realizing you might just be in the wrong story. 😜 Let's make that love story a page-turner for the right reasons, shall we?

+1 yYou made a mistake. But you did make a commitment, and you now need to decide if you will continue to live up to that commitment as best you can, or get divorced and let each of you move on.
Not an easy decision to make. Best wishes.
20 Reply You made a hasty decision… married the wrong person… settled… are still hung up on something/someone from your past….
What else is it supposed to mean?30 ReplyHow much time do you have to hear about it?
Here's the short version:
I was a complete idiot for even contemplating entering into marriage.
I was an even bigger idiot for not looking into having it annulled when, the day we arrived home from our week of honeymooning, a switch within her flipped.
From then on, things would be her way or the highway.
No discussions were allowed, no compromises considered.
None
I'm just now, over 30 years later, finding out that I've been exposed to chronic severe abuse by this "person".
What does it mean?
The uppermost meaning that I can take away from this "situation"?
I'm an idiot.00 ReplyWell... that means you either got lied to, or you lied to yourself.
Welcome to the world of media-induced misconceptions like "love at first sight", "perfect match" and "lived happily ever after".
Reality is that you find someone that promises (just like you) to stay in the fight and tackle the real problems/issues and not tackle each other.
Then you focus on their positive traits and try avoid focussing too much on their negative traits.
Then you hope that your spouse will do the same. And you focus your time and energy into your spouse and not your old-family and friends.
If you do this long enough and if your spouse also wakes up from the delusional expectancies brought onto us by the media, then you might stand a chance of undoing that regret.
Best of wishes and don't give up. Just talk... talk... talk with your spouse. Not fight. Talk!!!

Anonymous(Under 18)+1 yThere are many husbands and wives who think their marriage was a mistake. They're looking back with regret at their decision to marry. And they're wondering now if there is some reasonable way they can correct their mistake. They don't want to hurt their spouse, their children, or their family.
Is it normal to regret who you married?
In a survey of 4,000 British married couples, more than 50% revealed they have felt regret at some point with regards to their marriage.00 Reply

be positive and look at the positivities of ur partner, try to imporve her/his negativities

+1 yIt means you may get along now, but later on things change between people. Or it could also mean, that one person in the marriage isn't meant to get married and they will likely revert back to their old ways.
