Men only please how long would you wait before getting married to someone?

I noticed when I was younger i I waited longer since I wanted to give my girlfriend at the time the perfect waiting. I notice now that I'm older, I wanna be married within 3 to 4years

I've proposed once (never again) and I wanted to wait till we knew we could secure the funds to afford a wedding (Average UK wedding is £25K... though would we have gotten married, our wedding would have been a lot cheaper).

For me, an Engagement is nothing else than the period in between proposing and the wedding, and shouldn't last longer than a year; for the ex being engaged was the next step up in a relationship and she'd quite happily be engaged for years, possibly even decades.

In the end I proposed on her terms to give her what she wanted... We've been engaged for 4 years and then I got cast aside because I had outlived my purpose and she had secured her new victim. During the engagement period I got incessantly accused of cheating... don't know how she figured I would have done that, if I wasn't at work I was with her. I had no friends, I didn't go out on my own, nothing... She was my whole world.

In the end she cheated on me... I wasn't surprised; she cheated on her ex with me... and I had known for a number who years whom she was grooming.
