I won an AirPod Pro Max. It's sealed, in the box.. I don't think I'm going to get enough of the retail value for it, so in my mind this is like giving him a $500 gift. My mom thinks I can't give him that because he will assume I didn't actually pay for it and it has to be for both of them, but again, I don't care. My grandfather being upset if I don't is the ONLY reason I am going to this wedding. I don't like her, and I don't approve.. He knows that anyway, although we generally get along and don't discuss this.

Ah man, I feel you on not wanting to go to the wedding and deal with all that family drama. But giving your bro those AirPods might stir up more trouble than it's worth.
I know you didn't pay retail for them, but I doubt he will. Most likely your mom or grandfather will give you crap about it, saying you spent too much or shouldn't gift one person over the couple. Just asking for tension, you know?
Plus your bro may not even appreciate the gift fully if he thinks it's cuz you owe him for going. Better to get him something smaller that won't start WWIII at the reception!
My advice - save those sweet AirPods for yourself and enjoy them on all the long flights you'll be taking far away from this wedding mess. Maybe get bro a nice bottle of whiskey or something he'll truly enjoy. Not worth the headache dude, trust me!
You suffer through one night for grandpa, keep it drama-free, then you're free and clear! Chin up bro, it'll be over before you know it.
give him the airpod pro max, get it out of your hands, and move on from his wedding. your mom has no say in what YOU want to gift. who cares if it's just for him and not his wife. god forbid... you shouldn't have to give gifts. just being there should be enough. but you know, bride/groom are selfish.
Sell it and whack the cash in an envelope
