If millenials thought that the role of a housewife is a blast from the past, what does these new generations (Gen Z, Gen Alpha) thinks about it? Cannot ask the Gen Beta since they are newly born in 2025 😂😂

Thats up to the individual.. my sister is a housewife, she takes care of her kids, the house, cooking, gardens and animals etc while her husband goes to work. She loves it, he loves it. It works for them.
I've been a stay at home mom for the last 8 months, I can’t say housewife as I'm not married, and I’ve enjoyed it. But it’s not a permanent role for me. I’ll be full time studying this year and my partner will take over as a stay at home dad, as we have the financial freedom to do so. I enjoy having the freedom to choose which role I want to take on, while having a partner who is happy to be flexible.
Thanks for sharing and i'm glad because you respect this role 🙂
For us as a married couple, chores and providing for an income are shared. It hasn't always been that way, like the first years after my daughter was born, but that was a deliberate choice that she would stay home. It's what she wanted. We didn't want to put a baby and toddler in daycare if she could be with her.
Right now, she's working in an office and I work freelance. My income fluctuates, so we have the added benefit of having at least one regular income.
Looking at the illustration, it reminds me of an article I read about the role of women in the 1940s and 1950s. The textbook -- 'cause that's what it was basically about -- told women they should be there when their husband came back from work. Let him relax after dinner, because that's what he deserved. To get up early in the morning, before the husband did, and put on make-up and a nice dress... Stuff like that makes me cringe. I think we've come a long way.
I support the 1950's lifestyle where everyone was happy...
I'm fine with them, but honestly I much prefer to pay a maid to do all the menial work, rather than have my wife doing it. Sometimes my wife protests me not wanting her to do some low chores and have the help do it, and I tell her what's the point of paying people if we do the chores ourselves?
If my wife wanted to be a SAHM - if she wanted to I would accept it, but I would also distance myself if she picks up doing chores that I pay the cleaning lady to do - I married a woman coming from a family of industrials, not a maid. It's a matter of class and standards.
A housewife ain't a maid, you're views are twisted and i don't like people who talks about class and standards, it's like you're saying that some people's lives are more important than others and that humans should be arranged between a 1st class, 2nd class, 3rd class... etc just like in the old eras where there was masters and others are slaves...
Well, of course all people are equal and there are no classes, but some people are more equal than others.
@Sun_Kim-Ai I swear I'll never understand how you millionaries' brain works. We normal people must look like insects to you even if you don't admit it
Since I am not from the new generations I can't answer the question. Sorry.
But one thing bothers me about referring to her as a housewife each time I see or hear that word it reminds me of a woman tied to chains in her own house 🏠. I mean like she is free to move around but has these big chains she wears.
Now on the other hand if I hear someone ask a woman what she does for a living and she says "I am a homemaker" that gives me great graphics in my mind. Like she's happy making babies and cooking and making a real great home for her and her family and loves her hard working husband. 🙂
I have chains and handcuffs too 🤣🤣
HAHAHA 😂
I was obsessed with Samuel Jackson's movie (Black Snake Moan), he kept the girl chained in his house 😁
It was raining and thundering outside, she came to him and begged him to play a song for her, he took out his guitar and started singing for her, she was trembling, cold and scared, she hugged his leg to feel safe and encouraged him to continue playing...
A scene from the movie 😁

I think it’s not what a lot of people think that it is. Both men as well as narcissistic women who are wanting a free ride in life. A lot of modern day traditional marriages fail because people aren’t doing it for the right reasons.
Number one housewives was mainly a thing for many decades among middle-wealthy families. The mother staying home was beneficial because the husband easily made enough money to support the entire family. As well as having someone to take care of the kids, having home cooked meals after a long days work, having a wife whose emotionally supportive, encouraging but also honest as well as wise, did the family planning/budgeting, and everything else.
it worked really well because both loved one another very much. They had their roles to play to take care of one another because they could afford it. If the husband lost his job or his money the wife could work if needed to.
Before that even when wives did stay home. I don’t think people knew the ammount of work women really did. Number one education wasn’t available to all kids therefore many times they were homeschooling their kids. They were making meals from scratch there was no boxed dinners that take 10 minutes. They cleaned they worked their ass off.
A lot of people who have this fantasy of sitting around all day looking cute become very disappointed in the marriage. When they see how much work has to be done they start playing the victim and many cheat. You see these unhappy narcissists crying all the time but they refuse to join the workforce despite claiming how much easier it would be.
As well as the women have to be careful. You can be a woman whose heart and soul is really into this but end up having your husband having affair’s especially if he’s gone all the time. Then ending up homeless without any money… Because you were only dependent on him.
Another thing to remember is the man many times becomes focused on work while the woman on the kids. Growing apart having less and less time for one another until neither feel appreciated by the other. It can lead to affairs massive fights and eventually divorce.
Integrity is a major thing as well especially when two people are apart for a long time. Military, business travel, etc. The man could be sleeping with women anywhere and bring back some nasty STD. The woman could be sleeping all around town every time she gets a chance.
Thanks for this wonderful insight, you deserve an mho but it's too late hehe
Thanks
I’ll take a honorary HMO 😂. No worries thanks
You're welcome 😄
From what I've heard from the kids these days, the main surprise is that a family could even afford to live on just one income. Apparently the economy is worse now than the sexism was back then. Lol
The economy is making people's lives a living hell, it's important to have a balanced economy to be able to create a happy family!
a lot of people don't value unpaid work. It sucks to get the hate but for me my family is worth putting all my effort into. A job is pointless when I already have a man to provide for our family.
Well said miss apples 🍎🍏, this unpaid job is a precious and very important role, what a devoted housewife does to her family is priceless and should be admired for it 😌
♀️👁️👀 Its an ideal some women still subscribe to, minus the offspring element, or consider working part time only, again no offspring element. Just existing to please herself and please her man and support her community 🙃💗
House chores and cooking too 🙂
They better not knock what's tried and true. This is what's continued the generations to now.
Well said, it's a woman's basic role in life!
It was the norm back in the baby boomers generation but started to change in Gen X because that's where the new wave of feminism had started!
Her disease kept spreading worldwide till this day!
It's a lifestyle that's definitely not for me.
Thanks for sharing!
So what do you think of Stand By Your Man as a Song, lady? 🥳👀 ⭐🎶 @PBandJ_Nerd 💗
Did you know that if my mom didn't work, and working two jobs at this point, we would be in deep trouble. We owe a lot of money to the IRS. My dad works a job, but he was laid off 4 times in the past 15 years. FUCK HOUSEWIVES
I understand what you're saying but why are you bashing the role of a housewife? 🤔
@Apple1996 But he's not. He was laid off, 4 times in 15 years. LAID OFF
Because you're bashing the "working wife"
@Apple1996 Yes, my dad does too, but, not without help from mom
I'm not, i respect people's choices in life...
Housewives are useless kept women.
Why is that?
