How do you feel about the law of being arrested if you cheat on your married spouse?

I don't know if I'd go that far but it should have consequences. I don't believe in no fault divorce and you can just nuke the lifetime commitment/contract and just be rewarded with alimony and the other persons work IRAs and retirement accounts.

If you CHOOSE to break the contract then you don't get rewarded for it. NO ALIMONY and reduced assets.

If you are shown to be cheating YOU DON'T GET REWARDED for it with alimony and half of all of the assets and all of that shit.

There should be penalties in breaking the contract or having open betrayal.

All I could find was century old law banning adultery getting repealed last year.
In either case, while such a law sounds nice at first glance because actual cheaters should be punished, the privacy invasion aspect of it ruins any merit it has.
How would you prove cheating without ruining privacy for non-cheaters in the process?
Also how would you tell whats cheating and whats having relations with a new person after a recent breakup?

Don’t like criminalizing cheating, but restoring the old common law suit for alienation of affections is not a bad idea. But make it clear that not knowing that the person you cheated with was married is a valid defense. A lot of guys and a few women lie about stuff like that.

Also, I have followed what laws Congress has been considering pretty closely ever since President Trump got elected and I have seen no sign of a federal law criminalizing adultery or establishing a nationwide cause of action. Do you have a source for this?

I am against that. I think cheating is one of the worst things a person can do. But I think it's wrong for moral reasons. I do not support it becoming a criminal justice matter. I do not think that there should be any legal recourse for being cheated on. It's not a legal matter. It's a purely moral, and private matter.

It's not something the state needs to involve itself with. I tend to be against legislating morality. The harm is emotional. That's not a legal matter, requiring legal remedy. The legal remedy is divorce if you're legally bound together. That should be about the only law's involvement in romantic infidelity.

I haven't heard of it or read it, but on the surface the premise sounds like another law to discourage marriage. Many governments seem to be making many laws to discourage the formation of families and the birth of children. So in general it sounds like population control. It's just one more tool to accuse husbands of crimes to leverage the tyranny of the government against men. That said, adultery is bad, but giving ever more power to government to ruin lives based on accusations is also bad.

What way do they prove you are cheating, and not just breaking up? I don't like the government putting it's nose into too many things. However it sounds like too many people cheat too much. And I think that could be why there is a law.
