I lost my engagement and wedding ring. To replace, should I buy a style that I want or buy the same one that I lost which my husband chose for me?

My husband said he put a lot of thought into picking that ring. He said he did a lot of research, and for him, the ring was really pretty.

I thought the ring was really pretty when I first saw it, but I found out that it was a white Sapphire. I've always wanted a diamond ring.

I'm gonna be the one to pay for it this time.

Maybe it’s just me but everyone seems to be ok w this. First of all does he know about this? Second, women always complain that men never put thought into things. So if he truly thought of you as he says he did the. That should matter a lot. He genuinely thought w his heart that you would love the ring. But apparently you don’t. What matters to you more is the ring, not that he loves you or actually thought of you to pick something he really thought you’d love. So w that said I think you’re selfish. I can see upgrading your ring in the future as most people do w a longer lasting marriage overtime. But yes I think you’re wrong in this. Let me guess you want to show it off to your girlfriends. You should be w him for him, the fact that he loves you. Not cause he got you a diamond ring. I kind of wonder if you lost it on purpose so you could replace it.

Can you get the same ring remade that your husband chose, but with a diamond?

I would have to ask, but sadly, we don't have the money to get a diamond. I can get a diamond but in a different style, that's affordable.

Can you have it made with a stone you can afford now, like a convincing looking Cubic Zirconia and replace it with a diamond later?

I can buy the same ring I lost. It would be a white sapphire. Then maybe have it replaced with a diamond later on.

Yes, absolutely, although I would have to convince my husband to upgrade the ring later on.

a lot of women upgrade their bling after 10 or 20 years of marriage, my stone is big enough to keep me happy i think until i'm 50, then i might get a huge emerald cut like the older ladies do (in my family at least), and maybe a huge emerald cut ruby instead of a diamond by that time

but yes i liked the comment about getting the same setting but putting a diamond in it
