Today, with greater economic independence for women and less societal pressure to conform, the purpose of marriage has shifted dramatically. It's no longer just a "business contract" but is increasingly seen as a personal choice and an emotional partnership built on love, mutual respect, and shared goals. The decline in marriage rates and the rise of cohabitation don't signal a loss of value, but rather a more intentional approach, where people are choosing to marry later in life, if at all, for reasons of love and personal fulfillment rather than out of obligation. While this evolution may challenge traditional views, it also suggests that for many, the institution is becoming more meaningful than ever, as it is entered into by choice and not out of necessity.

Objectively, no. Marriage is an institution. The problem is not with marriage. It's with the people who are getting married.

Its on a down cycle now and the culture changes cycles like a washer machine. It did have a rise during the Pandemic. The meaning has not changed.

Yeah, things are changing a lot. Back then marriage used to be sacred and man/woman used to stay with eachother for the life.

Now most of them have someone else while they are married. Even I had many married woman and they just do it for fun
