I gave my wife a narrow 18 carat band.
Something like this but with 7 square cut diamonds set side by side, no gaps between.

I designed it myself and had it made. I wanted the top of the band to sparkle n the light but not be gaudy.
That was in 1995, so it wasn't very expensive.
I bought her an ornate, unique wedding ring a year later. It is an 18 carat Celtic knot band like this

and I had a fiery, marquis diamond set in prongs.

Even then it wasn't super expensive in 1996. But I thought it looked lovely and she absolutely loved it.
It's the wedding ring that is supposed to be impressive. An engagement ring isn't supposed to have a big rock unless you are marrying a gold digger.
God bless De Beers and their international diamond monopoly along with their century long marketing effort to get stupid people to think a diamond ring is mandatory.
Pay up suckers. 🤣.
You’re a complete failure if you don’t. 🤣
Spend more to prove you love her more. 🤣
I don’t care for how much it is, it’s about the quality of the ring and long lasting. If the man takes the time to pick one out that he thinks that I will love then what’s the point of the price?
woman should stop expecting expensive rings as at the end of the day your not paying for it and aren’t picking it out, like he’s taking the time to pick on out that he thinks will look good on you and one he thinks you will like to show his love to you and ask for your hand in marriage and your worried about how much it cost? So you can flex it on social media and to your friends?

My husband and I both don't like rings, so that made things straightforward.

Price doesn't matter too much but the quality of the ring is important like it needs to be made to last a lifetime, have a warranty, be able to get it sized and repaired if needed so at least over 300$
It would depend on who is giving me the engagement ring. If a college student, $1,000 would be sufficient. Otherwise, I would be satisfied with an engagement ring equal to a month's earnings, less if he earns more than $100,000 annually.
I don't care about the price, at all. Only how it looks
The ring isn't supposed to be expensive. The main point of having one is so other people will not hit on her because it is a sign that she isn't available.
I was the first from my family to get married. My mom had my grandmother's engagement and wedding rings, so she offered them to me.
A big green flag to a guy is when a woman says she doesn't care how much the ring costs. Any demand for a ring is a turnoff.
@BonzoInBitburg
Haha nobody wants a cheap ring.
Just like nobody wants a fat woman
If your wife says she wants a cheap ring, it just means she doesn't want to make you feel bad for being broke
If the cost of the ring doesn't matter, why not just buy her one of those 50 cent or 1 dollar ring pops you see at the vending machine.
Im sure she would be so happy to receive the cheapest ring possible
@BonzoInBitburg
No woman wants a man who wants to be as cheap as possible on her.
It shows she's not worth the investment
Tell your wife she deserves a 50 cent ring. Tell her she is with 50 cents
@BonzoInBitburg
Yea im sure marrying your wife is the worst dat of your life which is why you decided to buy her a 1 cent ring. Hahaha
Tell your wife she doesn't deserve anything more than a penny ring.
Go online and see if you can get a ring for less than a penny
@nastyb The more expensive the ring and wedding is, the more likely the marriage will end in divorce

@BonzoInBitburg
what a poor many say to make himself feel better about being broke.
the poorer the marriage, the more likely the divorce.
One recurring observation is that wealthier couples tend to stay married longer and are less likely to divorce compared to those with lower incomes

Under $500. An engagement ring doesn't need to be that expensive.
The cost doesn’t matter to me, as long as he doesn’t have a debt, mortgage or car installments.
I've experienced plenty of engagement rings from low triple digit ones that end up sold off to another dealer to one of my associates whose wife sports a £1,000,000 Harry Winston
2 mos salary of you need a useless global misery causing bauble for your shallow friends, family & to prove to yourself he really loves you. So dumb.
He could have tired a string on and I would have been overjoyed.
*tied
I never got my wife an engagement ring. We were saving to buy a house so it seemed an unnecessary expense. We splurged on the wedding rings.
you're talking to a bunch of broke losers on here. of course most of them wouldn't want a nice ring. they know they won't be able to afford it.
I don't care about the price as long it's a real diamond.
Whatever he can afford. I'm a very simple person
I had no interest in to waste money on rock and my husband knew it so he didn't buy expensive,
Just put a cheap ring
Under $500
Honestly, the ring doesn't mean much to me.
Fuck lab grown. Someone better have died for the one I buy.
Im not doing an engagement ring. Im going to have a wedding ring made
I bought a ring for €12, she was happy
why do we have those?
Zero. Total fucking waste of money
~ $10,000
