For those who have been married before- why do you never want to get married again?

Marriage life traumatized the fuck out of me. Do I want a special someone in my life... Sure. But then I remembered what it was like being married and I immediately shut down that idea.

Not saying I would never get married again , I am just trying to play my cards better this time around and I am in no rush to get married whatsoever. My ex changed on me big time after 20 years of being together , she went from sweet and loving and caring into a demonic demon spawned from hell, to the point I didn’t even know who she was anymore , she became very negative and miserable and selfish , and constantly pointed fingers at me over the littlest things instead of pointing fingers at herself , when she entered menopause, that was even worse , and that’s when I threw in the towel on her crazy ass , I know not every girl loses their mind during menopause but my ex did , because she also suffered from ADHD and depression, which was too much for me to live with , So any girl I date now , I check her medicine cabinet lol

I am still married.

If my wife died, I will not marry because society has degraded a ton and there are way fewer wife types out there. Marriage is for having families. I have kids and I have had a vasectomy. Since I am not having another family there is no need to marry.

All of my assets are going to my kids. No need to bring in a new woman to take some of the inheritance away from my kids.

Danielle does the exact same thing. I can't tell you the amount of times i got scolded at by her every time i brought it up or mentioned it. It got to the point i stopped mentioning it because i didn't want to get yelled at or scolled again. To be honest i love that woman with all my heart and i would do anything in this world to be married to her but i keep those feelings buried inside because i know how she feels about marriage. I love her with all my heart and soul but i much rather keep the peace then bring the M word up again and have all hell break loose with her again.

Honest to God when i say this and i will put my hand on a stack of bibles when i say this Danielle means the world to me she means the whole world to me and i love that woman with all my heart and yes being married to her would be a dream come true heaven on earth like i would be on cloud 9 at that point to have that wish and dream come true BUT i know how much she dreads the M word and how she never wants to go through that again so i stopped bringing it up i stopped mentioning it just to keep the peace and so i don't get yelled at or scolded anymore

There are days where i would fantasize or dream about running a bubble bath or hot shower for her (even though she doesn't do baths only showers) or cooking homemade dinners for her or helping her was the dishes or giving her back massages or shoulder rubs or just kissing her on her cheek or sitting on a sofa cuddling in a warm cozy blanket watching a movie with some reeces pieces (she doesn't do popcorn) while getting lost in her dreamy sexy captivating eyes

I much rather see her happy then in another marriage she doesn't want to be in. Yes it would be a dream come true to be married to her like pure heaven on earth but i rather see her happy then be in a marriage she doesn't want to be in.

One last thing there were times where i could see myself growing old with her us in our 80s in rocking chairs holding hands sitting on a porch. She would switch out her blond hair to gray hair (private matter with that) as she got older her wrinkles on her forehead as she got older like in her 60s 70s and 80s (she's early 40s now with no lines or wrinkles) outter beauty is only skin deep real beauty comes from within.
Point is we would be in our 80s i would be holding her hand and still thinking about how much i love her even when we're old and gray

I would definitely marry again with the right bride. The paper and ring doesn't mean much, but the mutual commitment does. It's a statement of intent to ride out the rough patches in each other's arms... actual mileage may vary.
