I went on a vacation with my sisters. While vacationing, I ran into an ex. The two of us went for a dinner to catch up. We also stopped by his place after dinner to check out his new place. I didn’t know he lives in town. I never told my husband because I didn’t think it was a big deal. My big mouth sister let it out, and now my husband is not happy.

You were in the wrong to begin with going to lunch w your ex. That’s itself is already a sensitive issue, especially if two people are married. But what was even worse in my opinion is that you went back to his place. Then you didn’t tell your husband which makes it look like you were hiding something else even if nothing did happen. Going to your ex’s house puts it more on an intimate level. Then for him to hear it from someone else raises trust issues. So yes you were in the wrong in more than just one thing. If he’s a masculine male, he’s not going to let this go. It’s always going to come up. I hate to say this but just imagine how you’d feel if he had done the same? If I was him insolent trust you either. This man isn’t going to be able to function right w going to work or other places w out you cause his mind is always going to be wondering. This is also why men don’t like women going on vacations w their female friends. Yes I get it’s your sister, but still men don’t like when women go on trips w other females.

And you mentioned none of it to your husband. Which means you knew it was gonna be a problem. But you did it anyway. Then you tried to hide it.

Not a right or wrong thing. You chose not to because it was a casual meeting and nothing more. All you have to do is say the same to your husband. You didn't think it was worth reporting.

And maybe your husband doesn't like your ex or another reason for your not mentioning it to him that your sister is unaware of. All you can do is give your reasons.

Who knows what he thinks, and all you can do is try to explain to him your reason for not telling him, and hopefully that will put it to an end

Why didn't you tell him? It's understandable that he's upset. I did something similar and my wife was very upset, and reasonably so. If you feel that you have to hide something, either you should not do it, or you need to leave the relationship.
