3 moI’ve seen plenty of answers to this type of question, And often times they suck and are unreasonable, Also, the people giving those answers are the reason why marriage is fail in the first place.
Here is the cold, hard truth of the matter, A successful marriage can be narrowed down to a single word “stability” Which might sound like a mythical beast out there but it’s not, Actually, it’s a pretty simple concept to grasp Once you pay attention.
1. Be stable in your affections, This means don’t cheat and don’t go around, flirting with people or going out to crazy parties where People are usually just there to get drunk and get laid.
2. Be stable with your mind, Basically don’t act like a fool and don’t act like a crazy person.
3. Be stable with your communication, Basically don’t be argumentative, Don’t act like you’re right all the time and don’t Bottling your issues until you let them blow up, Speak calmly and clearly about your problems.
4. Be stable in your career or your work ethic, Basically make sure you have enough money, Make sure the house is clean and make sure everyone is fed.
5. Be stable in your compassion, I see it all the time people always want to complain about how their life is hard and how they have to do this then and the other thing, Yet I never see them ask “What can I do for my partner?” Or “is my partner not helping because they are overexerted?” A lot of people just don’t empathize with their partners anymore.
6. Be stable in your intentions, When you started this relationship, you did it wanting to be kind to them and wanting them to be kind to you and you wanted to love them and you wanted them to love you, If you’re gonna be with them, you should always want to love them and you should always want to be kind to them, Kindness is a basic rule for any human interaction, It’s especially true for your spouse, but for some reason, some people don’t understand that.
But genuinely if you just take all of this and you implement it you’re already gonna do a lot better than Many other people I’ve seen who get a divorce, Usually one or both sides just did a bunch of stupid stuff to their spouse. That would typically just be common courtesy if it was literally anyone else.10 Reply

m 3 moSince civil union, civil partnership and free commitment alternatives exist, then the existence of marriage does not concern me.
Signing for lifelong commitment is a weird notion to me, it makes sense socially, to organize society, I get that part. But it doesn't make sense, to me, psychologically. Because it assumes irrevocable state of mind, which I find terribly NOT relatable. Plus, if romantic love, a feeling, was to be irrevocable, unconditional, and enforced by contract, well, it is not a feeling anymore then it is duty. Or it means that marriage is not about love, but then I don't see the point of such a relationship.

Excellent! At last someone with brains.
In our Indian Hindu culture, marriage is not permission of free – uncontrolled sex, it is to produce babies and grow them as model civilians with shared / joint responsibility to keep life everlasting on earth. Marriage is a lifelong commitment to provide a stable foundation for deep emotional, physical, and spiritual unity, fostering long-term security, mutual growth, and shared life goals. It encourages couples to work through challenges together, offering, on average, better health, wealth, and a secure environment for raising children. A permanent commitment creates a safe space for vulnerability and trust to grow, offering profound intimacy that is not possible in friends with benefits, Contract or other relationships. It ensures partners work through problems rather than leaving during tough times, high commitment levels are associated with higher marital stability and decreased divorce risk. Seven promises in the form of SAPTA PADI of marriage is seen as a way to grow alongside another person, requiring constant communication, compromise, and the willingness to learn from one another. Lifelong commitment provides a stable, loving environment for children, which is often seen as a key component of building a strong family unit and described as a partnership designed to share life’s burdens and victories, enabling partners to achieve more together than they could alone. A lasting marriage provides a partner personally, comfort throughout all seasons of life. The legal or social obligation of everlasting marriage is not outdated, it is the core of a lifelong commitment is the promise to navigate life together through, for better or for worse.

3 moSome people get married for religious and traditional reasons. I think most religions promote abstinence before marriage. To wait until a union was formed. Some people still on hold to some of those traditional values even though they may not feel the same about it anymore.

3 moI would certainly hope so. Otherwise what’s the point? I think it’s sad that marriage gets such a bad rap now from people who are a little bit younger. Everybody will learn as they get a little bit older the importance of having stability in your life, predictability, and reliability in your life. Always knowing you’ll have your husband or wife there. That wonderful feeling of always, knowing somebody will always be in your corner. Marriage encourages this by forcing two people to communicate, be open and honest with each other, to adapt, resolve, compromise, and most importantly sacrifice for the greater good of the marriage and overall happiness. If you weren’t married and didn’t need to get divorced the first time you had a fight with your husband or wife all you have to do is pull the ring off and walk out the door and you’re done? It’s not very practical. No matter what you think about marriage is an institution. It does provide value. It’s just what the people do with it.
00 ReplyIt's should be , but let's be honest , it's just not like that anymore , I think we should celebrate relationships that do last a long time..
People are simply too self centred , selfish and superficial these days.00 Reply
Anonymous(18-24)3 moIt's supposed to be, but half the time it doesn't work out. We realize this going in and we're going to work hard to not let that happen to us, but you never know what will happen in life.

Yeah, my question is then why marry? Why not just live together and if you see that it isn't working out you just leave without lawyers without hassle and headaches. And of course without extra financial burden.
Anonymous(25-29)3 momarriage is supposed to be a lifelong commitment. but its just that most people don't realize that a lifelong commitment isn't always rainbows and butterflies.
