Why would a large NYC wedding ban guests from bringing cell phones?

I am going to a wedding this weekend that is kind of a big deal being held at a very large venue in NYC, and they told us we can't bring our phones with us, huh? Ridiculous.

I've been to a couple weddings that didn't allow cellphones. It's likely because of a licensing agreement with the photography company. Additionally, they might not want disruptions and/or guests to be posting their wedding to social media.

They should be banned from all public functions and venues. Leave them at home or at work.

I guess they don't want their wedding to be on the Internet
