Society as a whole no longer take responsibility for one's actions. Marriage takes work. When things didn't go well, our grandparents took the time and effort to work things out. Today, people just say goodbye.

It's also much easier to get divorced today, with no-fault divorce the norm, compared to years ago, when there were only a few very specific reasons that the law could grant a divorce

B. People getting married as soon as they meet and not taking the time to get to know each other and decided that they WANT to spend the rest of their lives together.
You meet someone in a bar that's really attractive, you drink and talk your way into their underwear, you fuck `em and decide to get married the next day. A few months later, you figure out you made a really bad choice and rushed into it! You get a divorce. A week later, you see someone else that's very attractive and you talk your way into THEIR underwear. You marry them in a heartbeat and go through the same thing all over again because you never took the time to get to know these people!!

Kiddie winkies today think that, you walk up to someone you find attractive and ask them out, you go out together and, after the actual date, you go back home and fuck each other!! The next day, you make wedding plans!!
Dating is: you find someone that' you're attracted to and would at least give a chance to, you ask them out, you go out and have a good time, talk, find out how many similarities you have. You go home and say good night and, if you're lucky, you get a small kiss, probably on the cheek. If things went well, you ask for another date and, over a series of dates with that person, you gradually discover if you want to stay with them forever and have developed strong feelings for them and they've developed them for you, too.
In the meantime, both of you are perfectly capable of going out on dates with as many others as you each feel like going on for the same reasons: to see if any of the others might stack up better than any you've already dated. Just going on one date DOESN'T mean that you're hermetically attached forever from that day forth!! IT'S A TRIAL AND ERROR PERIOD!! AN AUDITION PERIOD!! JUST BECAUSE you went out with ONE person DOESN'T mean you CAN'T go out with others!! The ONLY time you SHOULDN'T go with others is if you've both committed yourselves to each other!! It CAN happen on a first date but, it's best to wait a while to make things final!!

There used to be societal standards. Women used to be socialized to consider it their duty to birth and raise the next generation. And so women were in competition marry the best mate who could provide for them. There was no option B, as women couldn't work really and choose another path. Along came feminism, and it wasn't intended to be harmful. It was simply about equality. Everyone has the right to seek their own fortune in life. But as with anything in life there was a snowball effect and unintended consequences.

Throughout history man has always tended to women. When women recieved complete autonomy we learned very quickly why the natural order has existed for the past couple millenia. Women simply do not make good choices when left to her devices. Because she's naturally handicapped with lack of basic logic. To make matters worse each succesive generation of women has gotten worse as they do not have men to keep them on track. Women used to be motivated to find a mate and get married. Since her options were limited to the man who chose her as well it lessened her odds of f***ing up. But since women do not work off that basis anymore. They indulge their feelings. And their feelings (like any human) are permeated by their baser instincts. Women are not driven to have kids anymore. They're just driven to f***. Most of the women have been indoctrinated by feminism want to murder their offspring. And this is tough one. Because while murder is horrible. Bringing a child into the world with no desire to be it's mother is equally as bad.

The end result to this women now go into marriage with no thought of self sacrifice. Most do not want kids. And most do not view it as a lifetime commitment. Ask most of them and they will say just that. That they'll do it until they bore of it. Or they'll do it until they find a better offer. And NO MARRIAGE can succeed unless both partners are fully commited to eachother. Unfortunately that just is not in women anymore.

Women being too in love with the cutesy romance aspect of marriage, and then losing the thrill or finding out he isn't what they thought after all. Let's be real here: the vast majority of divorces - especially in USA, I have no idea what it's like globally - are started and finished by women.

Many of whom complained that the guy wasn't involved enough, didn't want to help with the home, or was shitty in this area, blah blah blah. But I guarantee you these women already knew what the guy was like before they even got married, and probably thought they could change him or that with love and patience he would change. I know there are plenty who have divorced for good reasons, but women are notorious for picking the wrong guys, so I often question what they already knew before they married them.

The hard truth is that a lot of women are not mature enough for the marriage they want so badly, and do not have good judge of character because they're too blinded by loving all the cutesy stuff. Then they end up breaking their own hearts when they want it to be over.

The idea that people are disposable and that a woman can get rid of her ex husband and slot a new man into her ex husband's role as provider and father to her kids.

How many times have you heard of a husband see his wife through cancer faithfully or donate an organ to save her life only for her to decide she wants a new man.

The media. If you watch virtually any tv show or movie made for a female audience its not uncommon for the lead female charcter to cheat on her husband or boyfriend with of course a happy ending.

No Fault Divorce in the US made it easy.
Initially it was difficult to divorce outside of extreme cases.
Now if a couple have an arguments it's viewed as grounds because of the rise of feminism.
It's hard to believe that a black child in the 1960s was more likely to have both parents than a white child today. Now, black children are almost guaranteed to not have both parents. In many cases marriage isn't even involved.

I'm not here to answer your questions, however. My experience has been that money is more important to women than almost everything else, including their husbands and their children. Based on that observation, I think that alimony and child support and any other way that they can extract money from their estranged husband is the most important reason for getting a divorce in the first place.

I didn't marry my late boyfriend because Social Security was going to cut my check in half!

In the 50's I don't believe that the divorce rate is the same as it is now.
I grew up in the 50's, my parents were divorced, and my mom was a single mom, the only one in our entire neighborhood. All of the other houses had 2 married parents.

@sage2021 divorce in the 50's was definitely different, yes... back in the 50's and 60's was pretty much "impossible" to get a divorce, because the law was extremely strict and you could not get a divorce too easily

for example... if one spouse physically abused the other, that was no reason to divorce, that could only happen till the abuse was overly cruel and extreme as well, so either spouse could literally beat their partner every week or every day, as long as no hospitals were involved

that only changed till the 70's... once the law changed, that is when people started to divorce, because now they had the choice and freedom to escape unhappy and dangerous marriages and so... from the 70's, all the way to the 90's... there was a higher divorce rate in America at least

but from the 2000's till today... divorce rates are actually in decline, there is no higher divorce rates today, except in one case

people who are older than 50 of age... those are divorcing at higher rates nowadays, the reasons? they're just not happy... in their marriages anymore, among any other things of course, not all cases are the same
