Why do people get married if they have no desire to spend time with each other?

I found a YouTube channel yesterday that totally shocked me. This Indonesian girl married a British guy, and she said the majority of the time, she's traveling solo in other countries.

There are women who's husbands are gone for weeks, even months at a time for military, fishing or oil rig work.

Then there are people like Rick Steves and Anthony Bourdain, who ended up divorcing, because they were gone for several months out of the year, and spend more time filming their travel shows, then with their wives.

Even my own cousin got married, and they didn't even live together.

Meanwhile, there are people who would be grateful to have a spouse and spent every minute with them. If I was that British guy, I would be pissed and offended. What a weird arrangement.

we are getting married and we desire to spend time with each other very much, but sometimes we're not able to and we've done our best to adjust to that. for a long time we were having very good luck ending up in nearby cities when we were both on the road but this past 9 months it seems to have been ill-fated to say the least. try, try again 🤷‍♀️ (we have been together steadily for the past few weeks, so that's been nice)
