In the west, “What’s his is hers and what’s hers is hers.” pretty much sums it up.
I’ve also heard, “In divorce, she automatically gets half. Then they fight over his half.” That obviously applies more to divorce, but since half of all marriages end in divorce, it remains relevant.
It’s also relevant to point out that women initiate divorce more than twice as often as men. This is due in part to the fact that women have nothing to lose and everything to gain from divorce.
