What A Man Wants

I can't speak for all men, but I certainly know what my father, who is a man, wants. My father does not have many personal wants, as he is not really a materialistic type of person. So, here's what I've compiled.

What A Man Wants

Dad keeps telling me that he wants a riding motorized lawn mower (not exactly the one in the picture above) for years. He has never gotten it. It is too expensive, and there is no room in the two-car garage for a lawn mower.

What A Man Wants

Dad once told me he wanted an iPhone. Even though he only had an Android smartphone at the time, which was already better than my regular mobile phone, he was disappointed in it, because it would publicly display that he used an Android smartphone while sending an e-mail. He now has an iPhone.

What A Man Wants

Dad works as a research professor, so one big thing he wants is a large research grant of his own. That way, he does not have to rely so much on his boss for funding. A research grant would be so critical to his professional success that it leads to the next point.

What A Man Wants

Dad may be fortunate enough to keep his job at the same university for years, but without a research grant, he tells me that he can't get promoted to full professor and receive tenure. So, receiving grant money and tenure is on the top of his want list.

And that's what a man wants.
