Is sterling silver cheap?

My mom got me a sterling silver necklace for Christmas, knowing I don’t wear jewelry. Any place I can sell it? Or how much it goes for?

I just don’t wear jewelry and have no use for jewelry. I do wish she would have asked what I wanted. But she got everyone sterling silver jewelry this year too.

On second thought, I can make it work, I can use it for special occasions

I would not sell it cause I've heard about people selling jeweller on various digital websites and most companies give you less than 5% the actual worth of the jewellery you are selling. Think how your mother would feel, if she bought you a $300 dollar necklace and then you sold it to a stranger for $15. My grandma bought me a skirt when I was a teenager and it did not fit me cause I was not petite like her but I refused to give my skirt to my thinner cousin who wanted me to regift it to her, because my grandma bought me the gift and it had sentimental value for me. Just like a photo would have sentimental value. Keep it as a reminder of her love, even if you do not ever wear it.

Why not just wear it on special occasions when you dress up or something? It’s mean to get rid of your mom’s gift.

It doesn't cost much, but you really shouldn't sell the necklace in any case. The damage you'll do to the relationship by selling it is far worse than any money you'll gain.

It is relatively cheap. just depends on weight and if it has hallmarks of sterling. A necklace is likely to be light and not worth much. Just as easy to leave in a drawer.

$30 an ounce if it's pure silver, which most necklaces are not.
