I live in a small cottage and I have a tiny bedroom. I am getting rid of half my clothes.
I have a beautiful Chinese jewellery box, a pretty vintage jewellery box, a few pieces of artwork and a Chinese piggy bank pig, plus, a Christian medieval style, artsy journal in my room. For me, this is enough. I’m thinking that that’s all I want or need.
I have a desire to live a simpler life, with fewer belongings. How do I achieve this, without ending up without anything at all? I do want to keep some things.

Minimilism doesn't mean you have to own nothing or you only need to have what's utmost necessary. You can be a minimalist and still own something more than just basic necessities. Like you can be basic on everything else but still you can have more crocry if you have hobby of cooking and serving people. You can be a minimalist still you can own more scarves you are fond of it.
The key point is that cut down on all other things to your basic requirements and you can keep what's your hobby and interest.
Minimalism also doesn't mean to torture yourself to the level you can't take it. Like you don't need to cut on cot or bed and only to sleep on ground with foldable bed if that's not your comfort.
Minimilism is cutting down things upto what's minimum for you, and living with it. Not adding up unnecessary in your life and day to day activities.
So select what's your minimum and try to live with it. That's your level of minimilism. It's personal it can differ person to person that what they own or what they don't. So don't set rules according to others. See what's minimum or your basic requirements.
And it can be of many levels, on relationship and social structure, decluttering your phone, cutting down on things you own, cutting down in day to day activities and filling it with more healthier one. It could be of anything.
The main goal is cutting down or reducing the noise from your life, mind, and surroundings.
If you want to be a minimalist you need to follow these steps:
1. Get disgustingly rich
2. Get rid of all sentimental trinkets in your home
3. Replace everything with muted or beige colors
4. Keep it as sterile as an operating room
And ta-da! You’re a minimalist
