What to think about your boyfriend borrowing money and paying back in gifts?

My boyfriend of a little over a year borrowed $100 from me but paid me back with small gifts. I'm pretty sure that the things he bought were not of equal value to $100. Although I was grateful it was strange to me. I did state when he borrowed it that it was from savings and I needed it back.

If I my girlfriend asked to borrow 100 bucks and I told her I needed it back I'd see the gifts as gifts. appreciation for borrowing them money... I'd still ask for it back. I'd also give 100 bucks and not expect it back If I were asked in that way. To me the problem here is that trust was broke not the money. Money comes and goes people come and go but what matters is making good memories with people that make you better not bring you down. You should talk to him and try to understand how money that could potentially have been anything... has now turned into you doubting all the things you are with him. the money don't matter it's the idea for me.
