Should I ask her out on her birthday?

If we already know each other, is it okay if I call her and ask her out for dinner on her birthday? Or would most girls prefer to spend time with family (especially if the girl is family-oriented)?

Personally I like to spend time with my family and girlfriends on my birthday and a lot of my friends are the same.

Can't say whether she is or not though.

To avoid rejection because of this, though, invite her out FOR her birthday. Say you'll treat her to dinner out as a birthday present then do it a day or two either side.

Thanks for the suggestion I might try it. She's family-oriented. Also do you think that a car is probably a requirement especially if the restaurant is going to be like a 20-30 minute drive from her place? I don't know what I should do. Because that would mean her parents would have to pick her up.

It is easier if one of you have a car. If not, to save her having to get a lift, pick somewhere that's on a bus route so it's easy for both of you to get to.. Plus you could arrange it so you meet her on the bus :)

if she is family oriented they have probably already got plans arranged ... ask her out before her birthday and make plans for afterward you could maybe buy a small gift for her as well

She'd probably want to be with her family, BUT you can ask her if she's busy that day. If she is, then ask her if you can treat her to something that week/weekend.
