I dressed up for my boyfriend and he didn't say anything. Is he really into me?

I wore a very pretty country style hi-low dress I looked damn good and he didn't say jack... he was also distant he wouldn't dance to any music except country and our kisses were short and he barely held me... this is a new relationship shouldn't he be all over me if it was really into me?

Okay, first things first. Guys have no sense of girl fashion in the same sense that girls have a sense of girl fashion. Girls match socks to their freaking outfit. Guys wear whatever socks are next in the sock drawer.

You know what that means? He has no clue what a country style high-low dress is. Hell, I didn't even know. I had to Google it. I do costuming for a living, so if I had to look it up, then I can damn sure guarantee you that your boyfriend doesn't know what it is.

Now granted, the high-low dress has a great cut to it, and I'm sure you looked amazing in it, but that's a costumer talking. I get paid to make you look good in what you're wearing, so I pay attention to things like that. Most guys don't. Most guys just think, "oh, she's wearing a dress."

As a woman, you've got to give some clues to your man, especially if you are fishing for compliments like that or want him to appreciate you. Don't expect your man to be a mind-reader. Saying something like, "Do you like my new dress? I wore it just for you. I think it looks really pretty on me. What do you think?"

See how easy that is! BAM! You've told him you have a new dress and you feel good about it. He feels great because he thinks you were thinking of him when you bought it. Everyone wins! Communication is freaking amazing, am I right?!

As for the rest of the evening, you can chalk it up to a new relationship and both of you getting your footing. But I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that his mood was based solely off of your mood. As torqued as you seem in your question about him not noticing your new dress, that probably showed through in your actions, the look on your face, and your attitude throughout the evening. It's amazing how often guys match their partner's attitude.

A) He sounds nervous. Is he normally polite? Were there other people around? He may not want to come off as too aggressive or touchy.

B) Saying that stuff doesn't naturally occur to guys. It gets developed over the course of relationships, and getting yelled at by girlfriends. You will never (okay, rarely) hear a guy say to another guy, "Hey, bro, cute top." You should let him know that when you put a lot of effort into looking nice for him, you like to be complimented. Don't worry about being too forward. I once had a girl say to me, "You need to tell me I'm pretty more." You know what? I was really glad she said something. It was one of my first relationships, and I honestly hadn't thought about it. If he rebuffs those efforts, then maybe you have a problem, but give him a chance to get comfortable and know how things work.

He kind of sounds inexperienced... How long have you guys been together? I'd say if it's been a few months, that's a red flag. I had a boyfriend that did that to me at prom, our relationship was seriously on the rocks and that was kind of the moment I knew it had to end.

But, if it's only been a few days or weeks, he may just be playing it cool by not saying anything or being all over you (even if he did think you looked very nice). Don't read too much into it quite yet, if it continues past the month mark then either confront him about your relationship and see where his head's at or just leave.

I wore suspenders for my ex and he never even batted an eyelid. I looked damn hot. It's like he assumed I always wore sh*t like that. The guy I'm with now has only criticized how "small" my underwear are because I wear thongs. Some guys are just idiots. You could wear a sack and they wouldn't notice. As for outer clothing my ex only said I looked good when I was going somewhere without him and that was to give out that I look too good even though they were the same clothes I wore all the time.

The key to relationship is communication

One of these good ole days when the two of you are sitting having a meal or lying in bed. Just tell him how you feel. Don't do it in a way that would want to force him to but just as a means of communication. Or else you may become passive aggressive if you keep your mouth shut

i think guys notice even if girls don't think we do. I just think some lads just don't want to say anything. and sometimes lads can be intimidated by how good a girl looks. I know I can be. plus I don't get how hard it is for someone to miss something. if a girl I liked dressed up really nice I would probably be melting if that makes any sense. Like this girl yesterday she had these leggings on and this top that made her look even more beautiful than normal (however I would date this girl whatever she wore) the age gap is the bitch though unfortunately. but back to the question, I think he noticed, might have been intimidated or as some girls have said he's lost interest.

It's a new relationship so he's a bit shy yet and not totally comfortable with you. That's the main reason, and him not complimenting you when you get all dressed up. Isn't that a girls biggest complaint with guys? You get your nails done or your hair dyed and they don't say nothing.
