Are most women hypergamous? (The real reason she says no)

Question

After collecting a decent amount of data on this site regarding female preference, I've come to these conclusions...

1. Women want men with income higher than or equal to their own.

2. Women want men of equal or greater intelligence.

3. Women want men who initiate and take charge so they don't have to. (More likely to spread genes?)

4. Women want men with social status equal to or greater than their own. (From rags to riches?)

5. And then there is the good old preference for taller, stronger men. (Better offspring?)

On the flip side, there aren't many men particularly picky about any of the above about women, barring extremes.

Very rarely did I notice a girl coming out and saying "you know, I don't mind him being a bit dumber than I am." While the vast majority would elect to subordinate themselves for the sake of having a man take lead, whether it be through income or initiating sex.

Is there something to this?

You can't just assume that anonymous data is biased so you can make your points without proof.

I have proof. You're just talking.

The evidence is what the evidence suggests. And of course, when I present these results in a negative context (hypergamy) suddenly the majority will either refuse to stand by them, or they'll justify it saying men are just as bad. Well the poll results don't suggest it, sorry to stomp on your horn.

That's EXACTLY what you just said. Guess what? People have preferences. Most men don't want women to surpass them because think about it we're kinda just now getting to the point where women are truly equal and where a woman can surpass a man and not be judged for it. It was just back in the 70s where women couldn't have many jobs that men do today. See what happened in just 40 years? Now imagine 100. Same with intelligence. Women were told to shut up and work in the kitchen until the 50s so of course men aren't going to demand much yet. I haven't met a man yet that wouldn't mind a woman coming up to him and flirting with him. Have you?

Also, no man wants to marry a prostitute or some whore with bad social status. Chances are he'd want to be with someone *gasp* either equal to are greater than them. I've never heard of a man that didn't want to date a beautiful model with high social standing.

Like stated by someone else men like better birthing hips and in Western countries men tend to like slimmer women.

Like Janson said you're putting the guys that will date anything against the women who have a little bit to choose from. If you put both men and women from the same attractiveness pool and social standing groups I'm sure your "research" would turn out much differently

I personally want a guy of equal intelligence (always dated DUMB and regretted it), that will let me work while he stays home, lets me call most of the shots, and taller so I can feel petite (as a bigger girl height helps with that, but have dated men of equal height and shorter).

As for saying men do not care, I think that may be true as long as the girl meets high standards of beauty.

no to all. although I like nerds I don't mind if he isn't smart. height and strength are really the furthest thing from my mind when selecting a lover. I feel that the boy does have to lead during sex but he does not have to initiate. income isn't important, I've dated a lot of musicians (not thsuper famous) ...

Don't listen to COCOCHANEL, it's inane.

She is a minority case, very atypical to what you will actually encounter.

Prerequisites:

1) Equal or greater income

2) Equal or greater social status

3) Equal or greater capability to be desired by other mates

4) Equal or greater intelligence

5) Greater mental health

6) Greater physical health

7) Equal or Greater social ability

8) Equal or greater sense of humor

If you fall short in any of said categories, your chances diminish.

Not to mention, they mostly require "greater", not "equal."

It's comical that women deny this, but when they are asked in case studies, they demand all said traits.

It's merely unsettling to acknowledge that evidence suggests a bloodsucking creature is at work.

I think the reason why guys aren't as picky is because the guys polled tend to be more desperate for a significant other than the girls are. I wouldn't believe for a second that guys have lower standards because we're so upright and merciful. The hunger for a woman's sugar walls is insatiable. Personally, I think its a good thing if one seeks out someone of equal or greater intelligence, because you can actually learn something. The worst thing is for a couple to be unequally matched. So to answer your question, I don't think there is a whole lot to this. I don't really expect anyone to be actively seeking someone who is less driven than they are. But I'm sure many of these women would make an exception if they ran into someone they liked a lot but didn't perfectly fit what they were looking for.

Because most men don't WANT any of that from their woman. I don't know any guys who want the girl to make more than they, I don't know any guys who want the girl to be smarter than them and to "take charge", I don't know any guys who want a woman who's taller and stronger than him. A lot of guys don't mind taller women, I know, but I would think they don't want her to be stronger. All of that just seems pretty emasculating for the average American guy.

#s 1-4 are are socially influenced and culturally influenced.  Now then #5 is biological women want taller men and guys with broad shoulders not only do they find it sexy subconsciously its for protection purposes.  Men on the other hand prefer curvy girls because they are better for child bearing.  Again this doesn't apply to every single person there are always exceptions.  And no my girlfriend is smarter then me and she makes $13 an hour and I'm stuck at $9.  Keep in mind we are both college students lol.

Biologically women are pickier in their mate because they want the best possible offspring. Men can go around producing endless amounts of sperm whereas females ovulate monthly. Men therefore are less picky and want to produce with available partners whereas women want a prime mate to fertilize her egg so she doesn't waste her fertility years. Biologically speaking.

So... do all guys want ugly, jobless, unmotivated and dumb girls? I highly doubt it. Notice how you mentioned the word "EQUAL" in 3 out of 4 conclusions. Meaning, if most of us found a guy who was equally intelligent, of equal social status and equal income, we wouldn't mind dating and/or marrying him. In that case, most of us wouldn't be hypergamous. So unless you get rid of the "equal" word, these conclusions are basically meaningless.

I agree with janson here. Men are not easy going when choosing a mate, only desperate men are.  There are plenty of desperate men on this site who are willing to settle for any chick who just about makes his dick stand. Men wouldn't have the stupid rating sustem if they were chilled about picking women.

I am hypergamous, recently I lost interest in a few guys who I first thought were good looking . I found out they have no intentions of furthering an education through college. Plus they smoke!

Sorry no I can't be with a guy I believe is a low life. Thank the Lord I learned that looks truly aren't everything. I use to let things slide but not anymore.

In a society completely oriented toward material success, it's hard to blame people when they are affected by that.

Yes, clearly. Damn near all of them. It isn't a choice. You'll find hypergamy is the preferred mating strategy in females in nearly all sexually dimorphic mammalian species.
