1 ) Chastity / Restraint overcomes Lust.

The desire of love is to give,the desire of lust is to take

Lust: Is a powerful craving for things such as sex, power and money. It's usually excessive thoughts or desires which turn into an unhealthy obsession. Lust in itself is normal and is appealing -until it gets adulterated by tricky things such as emotions and perspective.It is then considered an inappropriate and harmful desire

2 ) Generosity overcomes Greed

As long as Greed is stronger than compassion , there will always be suffering

Greed : Is an intense and selfish obsessive desire in the pursuit of material gain, power and wealth . Placing too much importance on material objects and possessions in excess can block a persons vision .It can prevent them from losing sight of the more important things in life

3 ) Temperance/Moderation overcomes Gluttony

Gluttony is an emotional escape, a sign that something is eating us

Gluttony: is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste.You consume more than you require . Temperance gives you the ability to control yourself and these desires. Everything in moderation is the key

4 ) Kindness overcomes Envy.

Envy is the art of counting someone else's blessings,instead of your own

Envy: is triggered by the success of others. They feel they lack another’s superior quality, achievement or possession, and either desire it or wish that the other lacked it.They start to feel inferior, longing, resentment, and ill-will toward the advantaged person. Instead of wishing the best for others

5 ) Patience/Compassion overcomes Anger

Control your Anger because it's just one letter away form Danger

Anger: is the loss of rational self-control and the desire to harm others. Although , anger is a primary emotional energy for survival , having such intense emotional energy in everyday situations is likely to cause problems. Uncontrollable and unconstrained anger can cause a person to act hostile towards others. Bitterness and resentment starts to develop inside . This can motivate a person to harm others by seeking revenge . Cultivating patience will help a person be more tolerant, this will prevent hatred and resentment developing in the heart

6) Humility/Modesty overcomes Pride

Pride is the mask of ones own faults

Pride: (Hubristic pride) This is false pride,arrogance , or inflated ego.It's an excessive false belief in one's own abilities . It's a powerful obsessive desire to be more important or attractive than others, failing to acknowledge the good work of others, and excessive love of oneself. Hubristic pride cheats others into thinking they're deserving of status, without the need for long-term effort and genuine achievement.

7 ) Diligence overcomes sloth.

We excuse the sloth in ourselves under the pretext of difficulty

Sloth:. is a lack of motivation to engage in the pursuit of self-actualization. Sloth draws us in to be lazy in all aspects of our life, physical and spiritual. It stops a person fulfilling their duties and cultivating a strong work ethic. Instead of showing care and conscientiousness in their work or duties.

All these vices have their advantages to a certain extent , even beneficial ,but they become harmful when they are to the extreme,excess,uncontrolled and not within moderation . .Considering that they are widely known to destroy careers, families, lives, , relationships, marriages, bank accounts, health, economies, and potentially even bring oil and credit addicted super-power nations to their knees, by all means, the term DEADLY sins is more than justified.
