@WhereAmI Oooo. I do that. Granted if you're diagnosed with ASPD you should really take it with a grain of salt. I remember I had a counsellor once who thought I was in the spectrum. Smart guy, he could be right. But really, I have no problems empathizing with others, have a pretty good sense of right and wrong and feel my emotions very strongly. I just choose not to show them and to more or less try and hide them most of the time. At least make an effort to. So I just like to think of psychology as a game of dice that no one can really predict or know anything about accurately. Take it all with a grain of salt. Even some of the oldest psychological theories have yet to be confirmed in the modern circles (namely Nietsche, he was never disproven or proven and people are still tryin'). Also Rousseau.
And what about narcissists? My ex boyfriend was diagnosed with BPD and narcissism (didn’t tell me until later) and he made my life’s a living hell. At first he was really charming and then he started abusing me and I literally got addicted to him (something like Stockholm syndrome) it took me 1 year of therapy to recover from that. Do sociopaths and psychopaths have narcissism tendencies?

We can have a combination of narcissticic behaviour and psychotic behaviour. However, not always, the fact that you are diagnosed with ASPD does not mean that you have narcissistic behaviour.
Nicely expressed It gets annoying when people use the terms as if they are interchangeable And worse still throw the term around about any and all people who commit a heinous violent crime
No offense, the differences are very well explained, but in both cases, I'd avoid that person. I'd avoid you if I knew you were like that, because in both cases, I'd be at risk of something bad happening to me, more or less serious.
You don't need a degree to get ahead in life. Never buy into that lie. If it works for you, it works for you. I'm a psychology dropout. I'm starting a company now. Working a bunch of jobs in different fields (financing, sales, marketing, management) helped acquire each skill needed to learn to do it. Job security in today's job market is also a pretty big lie.
Jesus you seriously have such a low IQ, it's unreal. However because I'm in a good mood tosay I'll just explain it to you, I called you weak for hiding behind the anonymous and not being able to write your opinion with a name on. Not because you look a specific way. Anyway, shut up now I don't want to talk to you anymore your stupidity annoyes me.

Wouldn't trust either. Doesn't matter if there is a distinction or not, I lump them into the same category of "Stay away."
I disagree with #2. A sociopath can APPEAR to get better, but can easily revert back their anti-social behavior.
Playing with knives during sex doesn't help. lol
Who the hell said I want to get better lol?
One of the reasons I don't stand near the edge of the train platform when talking to people with sociopathic tendancies.

Honestly I think I tend to show sociopathic tendencies that I prefer not to explain and am wondering if I have ASPD.
it just means that you don't care who you step on to get your way.

interesting, thanks for explaining the difference, I was always curious about it.

Tbh, that depends. Because some psychopaths are impulsive
and some are not. And the same can be said about sociopaths.
Pay attention to meeee! I'm a diagnosed psychopath! Isn't that like sooo edgy? Sorry that's all I got from this.
Then you are blind
And you don't know how to eead because I made it clear enough thag I'm not a psychopath babydoll
it’s brave if you to put your condition out there and educate others because you have experience with this. thank you💛
Are you mastering psychopathy and sociopathy?
clearly
I hope you will successfully finish your master degree;):)
I was lying I'm still at school
in highschool?
yeap
ok then i hope you will graduate from university and then start studying for master degree and successfully finish it too in the future;)

Great take! Can you write a take on how to become a psychopath? It looks so cool to be one.
psychopaths are evolved , better, and way better.
Clearly no
Agreed. They are pretty much what human beings would be if we weren't group animals.
Since psychopaths don't get better, they need to be lined up and shot...
Very informative, thanks!
Dragging down asocial people, by equating them in some way with mentally deficient people.
...
asocial people are NOT sociopaths.
In many towns of 'Murica, the person who isn't in church every Sunday will be considered a sociopath.
same crap with different clothing
And your board certification to practice neurology and psychiatry comes from which jurisdiction?
@HereIbe are you one? let me break it down for you.
Sociopaths: those who are butt hurt. Those who stalk you
Psychopaths: those who will Jeffery Dahmer you.
Better?
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
