The 10 Most Annoying Public Space Behaviors I've Ever Seen

Right now, I am sitting in a café enjoying the nice weather. Everything is great, except from one thing: someone came and sat close by and is doing something irritating. She is watching something on her phone without using earphones, and it's noisy.

This is just one example of some annoying behaviors in public places. Here I am listing them all:

1. Listening to (stupid) videos in the bus, train, café or any public place.

2. Listening to loud music with earphones on, so loud that the person sitting next to you hears an irritatingly buzzing sound. This is a teenager behavior par excellence!

3. Talking on the phone incessantly when you are on the bus or train. I just don't get this. I understand there may be something urgent, which is fine. But some people love to chat and gossip during the whole ride.

4. Incessant chat with a group of friends on the bus or train. This is so noisy, especially when there is loud and silly laughter.

5. People who 'reserve' seats to their family members or friends in the bus.

6. People who smoke right before riding the bus. Guys: YOU STINK!

7. People who ride an already crowded bus when theycan just wait 5 min for the next empty one.

9. People who don't say 'thank you' when you offer to help them or give them your seat in the bus. So rude.

10. Finally, bus riders who get offthe bus using the entry door. They block the ones who want to get in, unnecessarily.

1. I don't care what they're listening to or watching, as long as it's not so loud it bothers me.
2. Same thing. Those ear buds are really bad for your ears & anyone listening to music with them THAT LOUD will probably be deaf in a few years!! Your ears need an air flow to work correctly & to keep you from going deaf sooner. Ear buds don't allow much, if ANY air to get in there!
3. Absolutely!! I was on a bus once when this person (I think it was a guy) was yammering away the ENTIRE TIME they were on the bus & talking fairly loudly!! The bus was packed, so there was nowhere for anyone to go if they WANTED to at least TRY to escape that! I think there was a fair amount of swearing going on, too. Finally, this younger woman sitting next to me got up to get off the bus & she really laid into them about the disruption they were causing! Of course, it did no good! They yelled back at her, called her a few dirty names & after she left, the phone call not only continued, but featured them telling the person on the other end how RUDE that WOMAN was!!
4. I can deal with chatter on a bus, as long as it's not so loud people in the front can hear the people in the back loud & clear!
5. Again, that's not a HUGE issue, if you want to see to it you sit next to someone in particular, it's okay to save their seat for them, as long as they are getting on the bus at the same time. If they're saving it for someone that MIGHT get on quite a few stops later, that's kind of annoying. Especially if there are pairs of seats open elsewhere on the bus.
6. I KNOW!!! They take their last drag SECONDS before getting on the bus, then exhale ON the bus & you have to put up with that stink until the AC can take it away, if at all!! Same goes for bus drivers who smoke ON the bus while on their break!! The whole bus smells like a rolling ashtray!!! What's even worse is when someone lights up at the bus stop moments before a bus comes & they don't want to waste the rest of their fag so, they put it out, then take the smoldering butt onto the bus with them!!! THAT REALLY STINKS!!! Puke on the bus would actually smell better!!
7. Well, that's also up to the bus driver. Sometimes they'll pass up someone if the bus is too full but, other times, they don't!
9. VERY!!! Quite often if I'm at the mall & see a woman heading for the door, I'll open the door for her. At least 25% of the time, she completely ignores the piss out of me, like she's some kind of princess that DESERVES special treatment!

9. And, somehow, it's MY job to open doors for her!! I just say to her, "Oh! You're QUITE welcome, your highness!
10. Well, we only just started using the back door as the exit in Jan. &, so far, only about 50% of the riders bother with that!
Another thing that really cheeses me off is, if there's people standing on an otherwise loaded bus, but someone that's sitting is either sitting in a 3-seat set and "man-spreading", keeping anyone from sitting in the other 2 seats, or if they have a number of bags, or what have you, taking up those extra seats. Sometimes, I'll put my stuff in the seat (s) next to me, but if I see that someone is standing near me, I'll move my stuff over to my lap & let them sit.
Also, last summer, my best friend & I got on a bus together & sat side by side in the only pair of seats available. They were behind the driver & facing sideways. A guy sitting in the seats (forward facing) next to us was slouching AND man-spreading! >>>

Instead of this rude asshole sitting up like the grown man (in his late 40's?) that he was to allow us to sit there, he just sat there like an entitled teenaged lump!! I sat down closest to him and accidentally brushed my pant leg against his knee and HE started yelling at ME for touching him and not apologizing! I let him have it and yelled back at him for being so incredibly fucking rude, then we moved towards the back of the bus and he was STILL yelling at us like it was OUR fault HE was too lazy to sit the fuck up and move his precious fucking knee!!!
I've also found used rubbers and tampons on the back of the bus! How nice!!

I know!! One afternoon, I was coming home from a job interview and was sitting in a sideways seat near the back of the bus. Some guy got on and sat in the middle of the back seat. At first, I never paid any attention to him but, I happened to look in his direction and saw him staring at me with his hand in his shorts playing with himself!!

parents who allow their kids to run around in a mall or restaurant and they don't reprimand them.
kids throwing temper tantrums.
people who cut in line when they see someone they know they be like I am with that people knowing they did not come together they just happen to meet there.
litter bugs they get my blood boiling.
people who blow their nose on the side of a street and no toilet paper or who see find to just spit in the street I don't want to step on someone else's bodily fluids.
loud people they happen to walk into a place where people are talking in civil calm voices and they are so loud their voices drown out everyone in the room.
people who touch bread with their hands who knows where those hands have been.
people who will pick a few grape in a box because they are easy and not buy them who must buy them after that.
those people who chew their gum loudly then they blow a bubble and and make this popping sounds.
people who chew with their mouths open nobody wants to see that.

1: listening to things without headphones is annoying. Very inconsiderate.

2: this is the same as number 1. But in my experience, adults are worse then teenagers nowadays... Adults act like teenagers nowadays.

3: I understand being really loud and how that can be annoying, but this isn't Japan. We are allowed to talk on the phone.

4: I had to deal with this last night, though not in a bus. It's very irritating and the behavior is irrational. But what you are explaining seems a lot less rambunctious than what i witness. As long as they are focused on themselves and not bothering anyone else (aside from being loud) then let them due their thing.

6: People who smoke regardless are inconveniences. They smell terrible they are still smoking and the smoke is getting around you.

7: Those people are thinking the same thing, that the space is so crowded but they need to get on anyway. It's not just you, they are inconvenienced as well. They might be on a schedule.

9: I understand your position. But you have to understand that this is a mundane and everyday occurrence for them. They are desensitized to the environment at this point.

Where I live there are three doors in the bus. The first one, next to the driver, is for entrance.

People who smoke in no smoking areas where you are wanting to sit for a coffee break or eat lunch.

People who drive around the city with their car stereo so loud because they think everybody needs to hear their ridiculous 'doof doof' music.

But you're always gonna find people here and there who are inconsiderate. The key is to not let it bring you down. It's just part of living in a big city.

1: dudes spitting phlegm or spit on the ground

2. Going to a movie theatre and leaving your trash everywhere

3. Shouting down your phone on public transport

4. Leaving trash on the ground

5. Parents who let their Kids run around, scream and climb and do cartwheels in restaurants (does happen) and the parents don’t care

And how they pull the cord every 5ft because theyre to lazy to walk the extra couple of feet when someone else is getting off a few seconds before them. Or fat women with at least three screaming kids throwing temper tantrums or how the drug addicted bums dont wash their asses up after they shit and people are forced to smell them or the ones who are so drunk they can barely get a coherent sentence out of their mouths with the smell of cheap booze on their breath or hogging up the restroom so they can shoot up their illegal street drugs

I can probably tolerate everything except #5 and #9. Those two are just inherently self-centered. I mean what makes you think that somebody *owes* you their seat, or that another person shouldn't sit in a seat just because your friend or family member hasn't shown up yet... its first come first served.

Really very true - Number 10 is so funny for me, they have been trying for years to get this system going in Ireland and it just never took off - If a poor foreigner comes and obeys the rule, it catches everyone including driver by surprise sometimes leading to funny confusion

1. Long as it is not from my list of "Hated YouTubers." which includes a couple that'd start a fight. If people want to know, I'll name a few.
2. It's not the music (But hearing it, quietly, annoys me since I'll be trying to figure out they are saying and get me annoyed even more), but the person trying to "rap/sing with the song". mainly see it on the street.

Omg I HATE when people watch videos in public places. Every time we go out to eat there's always one, usually more, toddlers around us with blaring phones. Once we sat next to a couple with three toddlers and EACH ONE had a fucking phone plus the parents had one each. They couldnt have been older than 3. I couldn't hear myself think like... stop being lazy and parent your fucking children please...

I always thank people when they help me putting my bag up and down the thingy on the bus (I'm 1,50, so it happens way too often), but I don't think you should do it just to be thanked.
