Does a shy guy ever reject his crush?

So this question has been driving me crazy, do shy guys ever reject their crush? Like this shy guy has done everything to show he likes me, my friend even asked and he said yeah i guess really nervous! I asked (through a message so i wouldn't put him on the spot if we were talking) if he wanted to hang out sometime. He said maybe but im super busy with sports and everything right now.

I know maybe is usually a nice way of saying no... I dont get it if he's done everything to show he likes me- even admitted to my friend- but he said maybe...

He does play sports and has family stuff to do... Was he nervous or something? Or playing hard to get since he DOES know i like him as told like 3 or 4 times by my friends-_- when he was told or i mean reminded he smiled and said i know...

So if he's admitted it and shown a ton of signs he likes me (way more than i listed) does he like me and is just playing hard to get nervous or what? And what should i do? Thanks so much id love shy guy opinions but experience or anything would do:)

I may be that he REALLY likes you but he's super busy with sports and everything right now. I don't know how old he is but shy guys are internal and mainly about tasks & responsibilities more than matters of the heart... and even if he does like you, if he's shy it probably means he hasn't had many relationships so when he thinks about the idea of having you as a gf he can't figure out how to juggle a relationship with you AND maintain his responsibilities... so it's best to stay noncommittal.

Then again, if having a gf is new to him it may be more so that this shy guy's HIDING behind those responsibilities because he's nervous to start a relationship with you, not knowing what to do once in it.

im a shy sensitive nice type guy, and no i would never reject any girl i want if she asks me out, even if were busy ill drop anything i can to be with her, thats how important having a girlfriend would be to me
the guy you like is a sports fanatic (jock) and i think you wouldn't be important to him so you should find another guy
or you should approach him yourself cause thats obviously what a guy is waiting for even if a guy hears things about a girl thats interested, guys dont take it seriously cause some find it hard to believe, thats why we wait for the girl to approach to make sure its true

A lot of us Shy Guys do it Accidentally because we don't know how to act around our crush and I think we can come off as not interested, So just Approach and ask a Shy Guy for a date otherwise nothing will happen will probably think you hate him.
