What is a home girl? Why do guys use that term for?

What does it mean when someone calls you a home girl? My boyfriend has a friend that's a female and he calls her "homey or home girl." I met his family/ friends and am learning to be patient with him. Is home girl like a friend that a guy has and she's just one of the guys.

It's basically a way of saying they're just friends. I was interested in this one guy, and then he started calling me home girl. So I knew he was friend zoning me. So I had to move on. We're still friends and we team up for things. I just hate when he gets jealous when I talk about other guys I go on dates with. He has a girlfriend now and he was the one who friend zoned me.

It's hard to say with any situation. It's just with my guy, I knew right away he was friend zoning me. He's always called girls that are his friends either "soul sister" or "home girl" and I hadn't quite reached that part in our relationship. I didn't know what he wanted except that we seemed to be getting close. I started to tell him a lot more, and then I felt close to wanting to admit my feelings to him. When I asked him if he wanted to team up for something he said "You know it home girl" and so I knew. Then I later learned a few days later he was dating some girl, who is now his girlfriend.

Yes it can be a good thing but homegirl means that you are a friend nothing more and homegirl can also mean your his main girl meaning the only for him

When a guy says it it means he sees you like his good friend. Trust that he's got your back, Guy's uses it just refer to that girl as his close friend, sort of like a best friend but that's all he sees you as, a friend. So if you like him and he doesn't call you his 'homegirl' then be happy

It's a another term like best friend. Like white girls say she's my bestie. Or black guys say that's my dog. It means that my brother/sister none blood related but close enough.
