Which accent do you prefer on the opposite sex
or just in general?
Aussies sound too similar to Southerners (English). And southerners are annoying. It's amusing, but there's not sufficient novelty to make me sit up and listen. They often sound *exactly* like the caricature and mimicry you would do after having watched an episode of Neighbours, which doesn't bode well for them. Plus the rising inflection (high pitch) after *every* sentence, it's hard to take them seriously.
I'm from England, and we have a diverse range of accents. Scottish is mostly annoying. Irish is mostly annoying. Welsh is actually one of the worst sounds in the animal kingdom. Owing to our diversity, you do get some nice accents, but given the broad range of cacophony, I'm discounting us.
American is often brash and vulgar, but it's hard not to be swayed by their charm and animation. See @commiedearest for an example of this. Least they are alive unlike us cynical jaded bastards.
Canadian sounds silly. It's like an American accent, but with all the bad, unwholesome bits taken out. It's softer than an American accent. Plus it's the epitome of modernity and coolness. So that's my choice.
Haha this made me laugh !!! :')
At least you were able to come to a conclusion :p
Well , I actually REALLY like Australian accents :D
I would go for British accent because compared to other accents, its pronunciation is much more simple, cleaner and easily understood in general (I'm not talking about the Queen's English lol).
American accent is much more heavier than others, they tend to emphasize some letters for instance "r" which I don't really like.
Australian's accent has itself separated in three division - Broad Australian Accent, General Australian Accent and Cultivated Australian Accent. Broad Australian Accent is found in rural areas and it is known for its poor intonation, also described as "working class speech". General Australian Accent is commonly found in big cities, most common type of English spoken in Australia. Cultivated Australian Accent is a prestige pronunciation class that is closer to British received pronunciation. (If Australians chose to speak more in a Cultivated Australian Accent, that might change my mind.)
I don't know much about the Canadian Accent.
Canadian accents are fairly close to a generic American accent (basically any non-Southern accent).
I like all of them. American is most familiar, but we have such a variation, depending on region and class. Like any other country, I guess lol I like Northern more than Southern most of the times, but eh. Each has its charm.
I do have a thing for British accents though. I can't wait to go back to Europe. I like a lot of European accents really - Italian, French, etc. But British is something kind of indoctrinated in the minds of many American girls. (Not all, I know girls who hate it. I don't understand those girls.) I had a flirtmance with this British guy in Spain. We both liked each other but we didn't do anything about it. My fault actually. He was from Bristol. I just want a British guy to talk dirty to me. Party in my panties.
I like British accents on girls too. I had a crush on a girl from New Castle once. She was a tad off her rocker though.
*Newcastle. :)
Irish accents are growing on me though. my roommates are irish.
lol @ people saying British and australian sound the same. They're very similar, but I can definitely hear the difference usually.
I had a Spanish guy say he couldn't tell the difference between mine and my australian friends accent. So funny. I'm like "really? there's a huge difference between American vs aussie"
I know , I can certainly differentiate between British and Australian :)
My favourite English is RP UK English. Received Pronunciation (RP) is regarded as the standard accent of Standard English in the United Kingdom.
But I love all the dialects spoken in GB!
And I also love South African English, which to me sounds like a mix of UK English and Australian English lol.
I honestly didn't know Canadian's have accents. The ones I've heard sound about the same as Americans.
I've never really liked British accents.
Australian is very nice, it's sounds warm and friendly.
I've grown up surrounded by American accents so I'm indifferent about that.

I will preface this by saying that I am Australian.
My native accent is okay, except for the bogan (Aussie for trailer trash) version and the Lebs (Lebanese Muslims) from Sydney and Melbourne.
British is okay, except for working class from the south-east. To me it is common, uneducated and repulsive.
Like a lot of Australians, I have difficult distinguishing between Canadians and generalised American accents. I do not like the New York accent (it is coffee, not korfee), or the Massachusetts accent (all that I can see and hear in my mind is Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons).
The US accent that I do like on a woman is the classic southern accent. Perhaps that is because I come from Australia's version of redneck country. :-)
American because its so diverse. smartass opinion I know hahaaa :D
This comment got so many dislikes becaaaaaauuuuse?
I know right ! I was kinda surprised too
Aussies drag their A's and pronounce their E's as i's like letter to litter. Too many aaaaayyyyssss.
Americans a little louder lively and drag their R's...
Canadians quiter but drag R's but less than Americans
British most of the accents except the very few miss their words.
I would say personally I like Aussies, Canadians & Americans. They're different. I hear too many British accents but prefer the female Scottish.
Haha , I like the insight
Thanks :p
There's isn't much of a difference between Canadian and American accents. Most of the ones you see on TV are stereotypes. The differences between them are no bigger than the differences between different regions in the US. The exceptions to that rule are Quebec and Newfoundland, but they don't sound anything like the stereotypical Canadian accent, they're special.
Anyway to answer the question: I prefer an Australian accent with British being second.
Firstly, my country boys!! I love that cowboyish accent <3
Then secondly Aussie All the Way Haha!!
Can I get a little Latino from Mi Papis ;-)
And lastly, My British babes!!
British. I'm traveling in the UK at the moment, so I'm definitely enjoying listening to people talk. My Canadian accent is just so plain and boring comparatively speaking!
No it's not boring at all ! I like listening to Canadian accents :)
Give me a girl with an Irish accent.
The other accents you have mentioned are horrible especially American and Australian accents.
Interesting :)
Personally I really like an Australian accent
That's cool.
Australian and American accents just aren't for me.
I talk to a bunch of Canadians and their accent is so clear. I've been in Britain and there was a girl whom I couldn't understand even after 3 months of my visit.
Russian or Serbian... Hands down! From your choices, I'd prefer an American (west coast) accent. Canadian accents second, Australian third and British... dead last >.>
Serbian accents are so nice. My SO is Serbian :)
@musicbrain5 my bf is too :o Congrats hun! :)
Nice! Thanks :)
Well, i have heard some pretty sext British acaents so i would like to go with that.
British accents sound so refined, my favourite.
Americans sound lazy and drag words a lot, not good
Canadians - we have an accent?
Aussie - sounds manly.
We do have an accent. We just don't hear it because we're so used to it.
You don't even have to go far, just cross the border and there will be people pointing out your accent.
There is no one accent for any of those four places, they have a LOT of regional variants.
I love Scottish and Australian and Irish too. they are wonderful accents.
Australian. But i like everything about Australian girls, so that probably has something to do with it
I like British and Australian accents they are the most sexiest
I've never noticed a preference. I usually care more about their tone an emotion behind what they say which reflects their attitude. That's much more appealing for my ears.
I just spent like 45 minutes watching accent videos lol!
Succeeded in doing nothing but hearing a lot of accents and being really tempted to make an accent tag video.
So my conclusion is, it really doesn't matter to me.
British!! Definitely a panty-dropper!
Haha :D
American. I love girls with American accent, but I also like Australian.
Only British if it's Emma Watson speaking, otherwise American.
Dont care (dont do anything for me) for Aussie or Canadian accents.
American southern accent on black men. preferably louisianna or charleston, sc
Makes sense Charleston SC looks a whole lot like New Orleans I know off topic but still lol
yeah! lol the old timey look. youve been to charleston?
@smahala1991
Yes and all over the Carolinas. Coastal Carolinas look so much like Everglades Florida and Louisiana. Im sure Georgia does too

l live in NC originally from TN
you can come to my house and bring me cajun boiled peanuts tomorrow then! GOOD DEAL!!
doesn't matter, as long I can understand them, its all good to me.
Well hmm im Australian i would want to try the other 3 accents.. Why? Um because they aren't Australian accents lol
I like Australian accents in general. They just sound really neat.
Agreed ! :)
Australian! God I wish I could meet an Australian girl. I'm in love!
