My friend beat up the guy his wife cheated with on him, was it worth it?

My friend went out of control yesterday and waired for the guy at his school ( he is 18) and he kicked his butt pretty badly. His mom pressed charges since she witnessed everything and my friend spent a night in jail. I wonder now whether it was all worth it.

He is 28 and the guy is now in hospital. He told me he kicked him in the head and he started bleeding. I think that kid deserved it. What do you think?

Anyway, the gal (whatever her age) took marriage vows and she broke them. Whether or not the guy knew that she was married, he had taken no vows and therefor did not break any. Therefor, the younger guy did NOTHING to the older guy.

If the younger guy were to die from the injuries, the older guy will face murder charges, and likely be found guilty. Even if the younger guy does not die, the older one faces assault and battery charges and will probably spend years in jail. And may have to support a brain damaged man for life. Still sound like it is worth it?
