Shouldn't guys wear their cups for kickboxing?

I accidentally kicked a guy in my kickboxing class and he wasn't wearing a cup. He went down so quickly and stayed there for ten minutes. Why would you not wear your cup? Do you guys wear your cups for sports?

I would advise it, yes. When I was 15, I did some self-defense sparring with my mom and wasn't wearing a cup even though she told me to. This will sound crazy now, but I swear getting kicked in the nuts hurts even more if it's your own mom doing it. :D

When I was around that age I had the same experience, I was sparring with my mom and she told me to wear a cup. I ended up vomiting and writhing on the floor, and I can confirm that getting kicked in the vagina hurts even more if it’s your own mom doing it.

Most of the time we do, but sometimes we dont because it is uncomfortable and all guys have a mutual understanding to one another not to kick each other, IN THE FUCKING NUTS. We are pretty careful about that area.

I think they're supposed to wear a cup especially for kick boxing. The purpose of the cup is to protect themselves against exactly what happened to that guy. It's odd that he wasn't wearing it.

he's a Dumbass. Cups should be necessary in any sport or martial arts. I remember sparring and I kicked this guys inner thigh and I guess his junk was hanging low and he didn't have a cup on. I was... like... dude...=/...

Yes, they should wear cups when sparring... I've only trained in the art of Muay Thai for about a year.
I believe when everyone is fairly new it may not be required.

probably because in kickboxing, no one is expecting a shot to the jewels. accident or no accident. Kickboxing takes speed, power and accuracy among other things.
you lacked accuracy and he lacked speed. end of story. there is no cup needed.
