Trending & News I have Aspergers. . . . We are pretty difficult to deal with, to be honest. We can miss social cues. Normal people are like, "Hey, this person wants to be kissed, let's kiss!" Asperger people are, "Why is this person so close to my face?" Normal person, "That person is depressed. They need a hug." Asperger person. *Stand there awkwardly looking at the ground, not sure what to do* Normal person: "Hey, that person's mad. Let's stop this conversation." Asperger Person: "And furthermore, I think you are (blah.") Normal Person: "Should I tell that person I don't like his shirt, or should I pretend I really like it, since it's so precious to them?" Asperger Person: "Your shirt is ugly. What were you thinking wearing it?"
Get the point?
I don't have aspergers but that pretty much sums me up. I always pass it off as being socially awkward and honest.
We also can have some really bad tempers. We are extremely intelligent. (My IQ is too high for standardized IQ tests to range, but they only go up to 150.) We have certain things we're highly skilled at. Basically, we're really intelligent, and CAN learn to read human behavior, but we're very, very socially awkward.
I do have a brother with autism so I know how bad the tantrums can get. Can I ask do you think me asking this question is 'distastful'?
Thank you, better to hear it from someone who has Aspergers. It's good that you aren't offended by this question as the two guys claiming me to be ignorant for asking.
My BF apparently was diagnosed with autism in his childhood. I told him recently, "If being like you is called autistic, then I definitely want to be one too." I personally think a lot of these disorders are hyped a little too much. Even the mildly afflicted ones too get the same condition associated with them. Its misleading.
It's not bad. I'm interested in this because I've started seeing someone with aspergers too, who so far seems to be the opposite to what most people online say people w aspergers are like. For instance he is very affectionate. He doesn't get all kinds of sarcasm though
It's hurtful when people think that Autism, Aspergers and all doesn't make you a person. I have Aspergers myself, and to be honest it's quite lonely for me. I'd rather someone be straight forward with me about something like that. But like I said, just cause someone has a mental disorder doesn't mean they're not a person too.
I understand both my brother and Dad have autism, only my brother has it more severe that he can't live independently and will always have to have his hand held.
He is very intelligent and as a Sapio-sexual, I find that attractive and to be honest, knowing he has Aspergers doesn't change my opinion of him at all and still view him as a human being with thoughts and feelings.
Good, don't ever look down on people like that, they don't choose to be that way, they just are.
I understand as I have a birth defect that makes people look down at me.
I don't see why not thats the definition of love right there; to love someone as a whole for everything they are.
I wouldn't say I was in love with him... Just like-like him.

There is actor on t. v. is 60 years old just came out and said he got Autism
so i think all people can live a productive life and still have have it so i see
it not making a difference
Nothing is wrong with Aspies, I've met several that were very kind and sweet individuals. Many of them are also very intelligent. They're just a bit awkward and have trouble fitting in. I say go for it.
Why does that matter? It's just a disability really. He IS human after all.
Never said he wasn't human,
No. There is nothing wrong. On the contrary we all have defects but are not always visible. I'd think it would be awesome if you gave him a chance. 😊
Why would it be bad? You're attracted to who you're attracted to. :)
That's pretty awesome, actually. You're a good soul. I hope you get him.
My brother has autism too :') you're really a good person go for it
I have Aspergers and we're really not that bad to date. I'd say go for it
Go for it.
What about his personality is refreshing to you?
no why should it be bad?
No.. it means you have such a good heart :)
So you don't find this question 'distasteful' in any way?
No. how is it distasteful anyway.
Read the anon's opinion stating it's distasteful.
I dated a guy with asperger
Aspergers isn't the same as autism. And no offense but that is an extremely distasteful title. They are people too you know.
Then you're extremely sensitive.
No. You are immature.
You're either sensitive or misinterpretted it. Plus aspergers is on the autistic spectrum which is autism and I never said they weren't people.
I am far from immature thank you.
Excuse me? You asked if it is "bad" to be attracted to a human being with aspergers. Come on! It is "high functioning autism" which is not the same thing as mainstream "autism" people generalize about. Try not to look at it as "bad". Many of these people are very interesting. Different does not equal bad.
Never said having autism is bad and completely twisting my words.
I can't be bothered to argue, I'm too exhausted from work.
"Is it bad"
"Can't be bothered to argue"
Ok. Don't date him. Since it's "bad"
Gotta free with anon here :/ the way you have said it.. makes it seem like, liking someone with that condition can be seen as a bad thing and ya worried about it.
people are people.
ya don't ask "is it bad that i like a guy with brown eyes"
Agree* auto predictive text sucks lol
I asked if it was bad not because of him and his disability. I asked if it were bad because some people say that's taking advantage of their vulnerability.
Rather then rushing to conclusions and being utterly rude about it, don't assume I meant autism is a bad thing itself!
Rude? Ain't been rude in the slightest, perhaps if you worded things better in a way that didn't make you look like a callous distasteful little girl, these comments would not be required :3
The only one who misinterpreted my question was you and the other guy.
I'm sorry I'll make sure I don't put "I don't want to go out with him because of his disability" oh wait I didn't.
I said "his personality is refreshing."
This is why I don't bother arguing with pessimistic people who are only out to make me look bad. Now lets end this argument because I can't be bothered with pests.
"Vulnerability"? Are you serious?
Gotta call you out for being ignorant. Sorry. Aspergers is not a disability. These people probably have an IQ twice as high as yours.
Lol "pests"
Ignorance is clearly bliss in the askers case, simply get told the way she wrote it can be taken in a bad way... gets very defensive. :3
says a lot more about ya ^_^
but yeah, lets leave it... can't be bothered dealing with an ignorant child
1. Why should I care what 2 people over the internet think about me?
2. Ignorant? Don't make me laugh.
3. You two are the only ones on this post who thinks I said that having autism is a bad thing. Clearly just wanting someone to intimidate and belittle.
4. Shhhh if you want to argue and harass someone I suggest you turning to people who actually will stand for both your crap.
And lastly, I have better things to do then argue.
She thinks she is better than autistic people. That's why the phrase "is it bad" came about
