Is the film Eden Lake a representation of British Chavs?

I watched it yesterday and it angered me so badly. Those kids deserved to die after what they did and their parents aren't better either. Too bad at the end the heroine gets killed by their parents. That just made me burst in anger.

Anyway, what i realized by doing further research that the film is set in England and is meant to represent Chavs or something? I am living in UK and i can say this film shows what British teenagers are like. Absolutely despicable

I went to have a look at IMDB for some reviews, and i am seeing people DEFENDING those psychopathic demons because they are kids right? WTF? while blaming the couple for making wrong decisions. I completely disagree with that and i think that most people would have acted similarly in real life.

That film was just awful...

Yeh all British teenagers are murdering psychopaths. No, its not true. Thats like saying all college students that end up going to a remote cabin on holiday in the USA get murdered.
But most chavs are despised here, think lower class, no job, starting fights "what u fuckin lookin at" mentality, alcohol and drugs, crime etc. Some are seriously rough.

Where are you from if you say you are living in the UK? Surely if you were a UK citizen or had been here a few years you would know what they are like?

I am from Eatern Europe and i have been living in the UK for seven years. The teenagers in here are terrible, and the country does nothing about it because they see them as kids. The reason those kids end up like that is because from what i seen UK has the most lenient laws on kids of all countries in the world. They seriously need to make the rules tougher.

It's despicable here. I can't wait till i get my education and leave.

What is worst is that most UK citizens are allowing them to do what they want because they think of them as kids. This would never happen in my country because we have stricter laws and people actually know how to raise their kids.

Where is eastern europe? I have hungarian/romanin friends here. It is mainly the parents fault. They have no disclipline and the teachers in schools can't do anything about it anymore. Think single parent families or ones where they couldnt give a fuck what their child does or doesn't do. If a young person (under 18) breaks the law they will usually be given an ASBO (anti social behavioural order) or if it's particularly bad they will go to a young offenders institution - like a young persons prison. Having said that a lot of countries in eastern Europe from what i've heard aren't very progressive in their views towards minorities and you have skin-head neo nazi gangs/thugs there. If it is that bad here why are you studying in the UK?

That's not good enough. They should be given proper discipline. This is one of the problems i have with democracy, everyone can do whatever they want. I come from Slovakia. No it's not that bad in here. The problem i am seeing is that UK people seem to be too lenient and think of their kids as some precious brats that can't be touched.

I pity the teachers in this country, they can't even slap them to give them discipline, i have experienced tremendous rudeness and violence in this country and this film depicts it PERFECTLY. Just because they are kids, they can't do whatever they want.

I could go on about how rotten this country is for ages but i would have to type essays and that would take a lot of time. This country is despicable but you're asking why i am here?
my family moved here seven years ago and therefore i decided to study here. The education in this country is very good as well as the money, in addition to this you get free healthcare so it's not that bad.

Every country has their advantages and disadvantages. What i am saying about people's attitudes to kids in this country is true, but that doesn't mean that this country is that bad, it has some benefits and some disadvantages just like any other country.

But what i am trying to say is that the people in here and the laws are way too lenient on the kids and that's causing them to dominate this country, you seem to be ignorant of this issue and that's your own problem.

If you punch a kid because it's trying to attack you, you will go to jail, but if the kid wants to kill you, it's alright because the adult should have used their brain. That is one dumb logic that many people in this country have and you can't deny it.

The director of Eden Lake created a masterpiece in this way that didn't get the credit it deserved. It should have gotten more attention so that people know what could happen to them when they come here. No, NOT ALL kids in here are like that, but they are still overwhelmingly rude and crass. It's a fact.

Yes I agree with you on that point. If someone is trying to attack you, you should be allowed to defend yourself without thinking "am i gonna go to jail". Its not just kids its people that break into homes too, if you defended yourself and ended up killing a burglar, you may go to jail if you can't prove you absolutely had to do that

I had two of my friends being attacked by chavs at night and he couldn't lay a hand on them because they were 13. It's mostly chavs, burglary is not that common at least in the area where i live, but Chavs are rampant here, they are like cancer and no one can do anything about it.

People just brush it off as part of growing up which is totally disgusting and terrific from the adults, whether you like it or not is not my problem, but you know i am saying the truth.

It's a film, it's obviously not reality. Chavs are just lower class people, usually live off of benefits or sometimes drug dealing, usually thieves, if they do have a job they blow it all on drink and drugs, start fights for nothing, wear tracksuits/hoodies... I know exactly what Chavs are. The point of my question is that it clearly shows British people's views on teenagers. "let them do what they want because they are kids and blame the adults" it's just wrong, and it shouldn't be like that. Those kids are pure psychopaths, there is no point in defending them.
