How to ask a shy guy to prom?

So there is this guy and he and I have been talking recently. He is very shy and we don't know each other that well. I was wondering if it would be weird or awkward if I asked him to go to prom with me? Should I just go up and ask him in person or since we don't know each other that well over Facebook, or is Facebook just tacky?

Since you don't know him that well you can always just use the "I've been meaning to ask you but it slipped my mind" approach and use Facebook. If you have is number I would use the exact same idea and text him but it doesn't really matter either way. If you are comfortable enough to ask him in person, I would suggest doing that but in a private way definitely not in front of a room full of people or anything. If not use technology, that's what it's there for and it is not tacky. I have had a few girls ask me to date parties over Facebook because they didn't have my number and I thought it was just a good idea.

face book is an awe full way for anything. ask him next day in class. ask him what he's doing for prom and iff he's got a date yet? when he says no ask him if he wants to go with you.
