I'm pretty dammed lazy so I'd simply not play (not into sports) so if I found myself on some team I'm perfectly fine sitting on the bench = worst player on the best team. That and few things would be more frustrating than being the best of the worst. It would feel like I was teamed up on a pro team with a bunch of 5yo's, essentially a 1-man team, which tend to suck anyway.

It's very boring to be a good player in a bad team (it happened to me) and I was disgusted each time (especially when the other player think you should do everything because you're the best player and blame you when the team lost).

This is why I hate team sports. No matter how you do, it's really the whole team's quality that determines the outcome of the game. So yeah, I'd rather be the worst player on a great team and win, than carry a bad team and still lose.

That is true, but if your teammates are ridiculously more skilled than you they might view you as sub-par, avoiding spending time improving your game to improve the team cohesiveness because they feel that no matter what, your link in the chain will not hold

Also, when you're the best on a bad team you have the chance to improve your skills each and every game due to and undue burden being placed upon you, and when you assist in helping a lesser player improve or at least make a good play it boosts your attachment to that team and your desire to improve for them
