Not overrated. She's a great pop singer, and she wrote most of her famous songs unlike a lot of pop singers. Pop is not really the type of music I listen to, but still she's one of the best within her genre.

No, 80's and 90's Mariah was a powerhouse. She wrote and sang, not a lot of people do that. Modern Mariah has lost a lot of range and strength. But she has earned her place in pop music history.

Um I can't think of any 80s Mariah Songs I could've sworn she came out in 1990 :/. Also I know she's talented but a lot of the reason people think she's overrated is because she's had more hits than any other female artist. Which is saying a lot.

yea, my bad her first album was recorded from end of 89 until it's release in 90.
Her hits were hits based off her great vocals, music, and song qriting (to some extent haha)
Having hits doesn't make you overrated, if anything it solidifies your position at the top of your genre.

I can see why they think she's overrated now, but to someone older-who was alive when she was the queen and her vocals were dynamite... she'd be much more relevant.
I think overrated is like people going gaga all the time. But I don't hear much about her anymore besides her new surgery and romance stuff so I don't feel like she's getting undue press
