I am no TG , I'm European hetero.
I always used speedo style swimming briefs.
In European pools swim Bermuda style trunks or shorts are forbidden:

Those shorts are forbidden for two different reasons in Europe:
-Hygiene they tend to get dirty and mess up the water. The deeper reasonis more racist:

-Muslims hate speedo style briefs, their parents don't want Muslim girls to see guys in speedos. Thus if there are speedo guys around, Muslim girls aren't allowed by their parents to swim. No Muslim girls? Then the Muslim guys don't come either. Or fewer Muslim guys

Not weird at all. Just like some cisgender men prefer speedos over trunks and vise-versa, its natural that transgender men would have the same variety of preferences.

Each gender has different preferences so I wouldn't worry too much about it. You don't have to always go for the more stereotypical option. Just wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
