Seeing where you are from, I'd rather say that he was a tourist. It could be one of his souvenirs. The ''SS'' indicates 220 Volts, compared with ''S'' for 110 Volts. Indicating further that you run on half the power... :D

I'm an electrician and you're slightly incorrect. "s" is for 110 volts and "ss" is for 220 volts. "S" is for 277 volts and "SS" is for 480 volts. Common misconception. 👍

Well the s/S stuff was just nonsense. However, in general industrial, general commercial, and general exhibit applications (regular lights, receptacles, and motors), 110 volts single phase "low" AC voltage with neutral (receptacles and lights), 220 volts two phase "low" AC voltage with neutral (ovens, very few lights, some air conditioners or refrigerators) or without neutral (motors), 220 volts three phase "low" AC voltage with neutral (large air conditioners or some motors) or without neutral (motors), 277 volts single phase "high" AC voltage with neutral (lights, air conditioners), 480 volts two phase "high" AC voltage with neutral (industrial fans and some motors) or without neutral (motors), 480 volts three phase "high" AC voltage with neutral (power distribution equipment) or without neutral (large motors and transformers).
