Girls, what would be your motivation behind sharing chapstick with a guy?

I know this sounds like a weird question, because I have never seen it before. A couple of days ago I was at work and with this could weather my lips were killing me, so I mentioned "I need to get some chapstick" (they are readily available next door) and as I was walking out, this girl who I think is extremely cute told me "you can use mine". I haven't known her for that long, so its not like we are close or anything, I was like "sure" (like I said, she is cute, so its kind of an indirect kiss haha). Is this common practice? I've heard of people being nice, but usually these kind of products are not shared with everybody and I know that girls are kind of chapstick freaks and won't share it, could she be thinking about the "indirect kiss" theory or she is just a good Samaritan? lol.

like I said she started a couple of months ago.She stares into my eyes when I talk to her, one time she batted her eyelashes at me. I haven't given any signals that I like her, I'm just myself, we do talk but just regular small talk and smile @ each other

Hmm... you'll need more evidence to back it up... but it's definitely strange that a female allowed you to borrow her chapstick :) Either she's REALLY nice, or she's into you on some level. There's also the possibility that maybe she was testing you to see if YOU liked HER (either because she likes you too or because she doesn't, but thinks you're attracted to her.) You'll just have to wait and see...

haha I don't think it means THAT much.. depends on the girl I guess. personally I wouldn't really with someone I didn't know that well but I would readily share with any of my guy friends (providing I know they aren't diseased or anything) but I do think that it gives you an in to chat her up and hopefully start something.

haha, I don't know her that well, you share it with people you don't know that well? I mean, its not like you can break off a piece, I just thought it was strange, based on sanitary concerns and all. I know that if I she didn't look hygienic and if I didn't think she was cute I wouldn't have accepted. I'm not even a regular chapstick user, so I don't know all the subtleties behind the chapstick credo lol.

Huh. I'm from colorado and its so bloody dry here the stuff just seems to get handed around. I have no idea if it has anything to do with familarity
