Why would anyone call someone ugly? Isn't it really mean?

I've asked myself this for years because when I was in middle school I liked this boy who was one grade above mine and somehow he find out and his friends started chasing me around school calling me ugly. It was horrible. I mean, my teeth were terrible, I had acne so yeah, of course, I didn't look my best guys. But neither did them. That doesn't justify being a shitty person. Plus, we had a couple kids at school that had disabilities and they were genuinely the nicest people to them. Just because I didn't have a disability did that mean I DESERVED to be bullied? I was the shy, quiet person who had good grades so I guess that made me a target. I want to believe it was because that made them feel better about themselves and more empowered I guess. It took me years to overcome all the scars and insecurities that came from that, but I've forgiven them and actually feel sorry for them. There is no logical explanation to it. Speak up and defend yourself. Talk it with a grown up. I wish I had at the time

Yes of course it's mean. It's damn right nasty. They sound like awful people. There's no need to be rude and mean to people like that. It's not just mean, it's a form of bullying.

If my kids talked to anyone that way , I'd slap it out of them and make them apologize.

There's enough hatred and evilness in the world without being part of it by intentionally being mean to people by calling them names and saying hurtful things

They're toxic people, so you should either cut all contact them them, or at least limit your contact with them.

Only a piece of shit would randomly tell someone that they’re ugly. There’s no confident self assured person on this planet that would put someone down like that for no apparent reason. Only time I’ve called someone ugly is when they were insulting my appearance initially. When I was bodybuilding, a lot of people just thought it was perfectly fine to tell me in front of my face that my body was ugly. I wasn’t even on a “freak” level. It really pissed me off and I noticed that the only people who said this were unattractive. It was projection.

Even on here, some girl on anon randomly told me my face is ugly even though she can only see the upper half of it. Literally just told me this at random using the anonymous feature as a safety net lol. People who do this are generally unhappy with themselves and put others down to make themselves feel better as cliche as that sounds.

When we were approx 13-14 we would run around yelling down people with one simple insult: "You're poor!" "Shut up, you're fucking POOR!"

It was awful and cruel but we did it without thinking and that's what made it funnier. Also, we were running around the boardwalk just being sweaty kids thinking about rubbing our parts together.

But honestly, I mostly save ugly to describe someones' character so that it can burn them from the inside out when I say it.

but there ARE ugly people in the world, and they probably know they aren't really attractive, and there really is no good reason to point it out to them... doing so says way more about the darkness and insecurities of your inner personality than it does anything else...
