Is there a traumatic incident you never talk about?

When I was about 13, I was with my family on a sort of walking trail. I saw this couple that seemed a little bit older than my parents. I saw the man choking the woman. She was staring at me while she was being choked and I still remember the way her eyes bugged out while she was being choked, looking at me.
I. told my family and it was dismissed. A few minutes later I tried to tell them again but they hadn't seen what I did. I don't even want to imagine what else that woman must have experienced every day or what her life is like now, a few years later. Sometimes I feel really guilty that I hadn't done more to insist something was wrong, because that poor woman could be dead now for all I know
