Do you have a traumaversary?

An anniversary of a traumatic event either physical or emotional.
You think you are over it but then that day comes around and so do the memories.
Mines the 27th of January the day after Australia day it was a Friday night. The week following was when it came to light of what was happening, so for the whole week I feel like I'm right back where I started from.

I do. It starts in December and ends in April. Extremely traumatic events that damn a few months every year.
Now I'm dealing with a new tragedy- my one and only friend tried to kill herself- so her family states- she's in the ICU, heavily sedated on a ventilator. I'm praying that she pulls through and isn't a vegetable.
Life is too hard but I still don't think suicide is ever the answer.

No, I try not to dwell on anniversaries, as much as I can. It would be more difficult if one came just after a national holiday, though.

Yes mine is November 18th the day my wife passed away of 26 years it has been 5 years

Do you do anything special for her on that day?

Yes always go where we went out first time together then I go and take flowers to the grave and sit and talk little while.

This can be quite true for people, depending on their relationship and the circumstances of their loss. It really is a recurring period of mourning and a very real phenomenon, whether or not people want to admit it. Mine is in the form of a favorite song of my mother's that gets to me when I hear it.

It used to be the 1. st February - the day my parents moved to the shithole East and brought me with them. I'm still trapped here. Now I don't have any traumaversaries. It shaped me to be more resilient with the side effect of making me a bit materialistic like on an almost instinctual level.

This is why you should never start a relationship on a holiday because if you have a bad split you’ll be reminded every holiday for years.

Yes and no sometimes the trigger isn't even an anniversary. Could be driving past the first date location. Going somewhere you went together etc...

Maybe being a bit more racional could help, let me try: an anniversary it is a multiple of 365 day. But what that is more important that a multiple of 100 ,1000,500 ,25 or 1. Who cares really? Everyday is an anniversary of something. What you have to do is fix the pain you feel because of that. You have to creat good and bad memories that replace is tragic moments.
