One good example of this is the ban on grid girls, grid girls were girls who used to wear provocative outfits and cheer as drivers race each other on the tracks, or when drivers are celebrating their victories, there was always a grid girl there in a provocative outfit cheering them on. The self proclaimed "protectors" of women argued that being a grid girl is dehumanizing to women because men stare at these grid girls, who have to wear provocative outfits in front of so many people. In order to fix this, these so-called "protectors" of women enacted a ban on grid girls, deciding the job itself is not good for girls, without consulting with the grid girls themselves though. Such a ban was also enacted against bikini competitions, and it could be enacted against ring girls as well.
The way I see it, if you aim to "protect" women from men who stare at them, then you should look for a way to reform the men, not take away jobs from women, jobs that allowed those women to make good money and live comfortable lives. Taking away jobs from women to protect women is punishing the victim.
Not so surprisingly, these so-called "protectors" of women also think of the Hijab as a symbol of feminism, as it "protects women's modesty". That is the same excuse that governments of Saudia Arabia, Iran, and radical Muslims use to subjugate women and control what they can or cannot do with their bodies.
