My boyfriend always wants to drive my car?

He totaled his a year and a half ago and got rear ended in mine like 4 months ago...I know getting rear ended wasn't his fault but I don't know I just get so uneasy about him driving it, after all I bought it myself and pay all the bills and he has no sense of how much insurance or tickets are...Whenever I say no he gets all offended, is there a way I can tell him no without him getting upset? I feel bad, but if something were to happen to my car I wouldn't have a way to work or school...And do you let your S/o drive your car? Why or why not

I do let my SO drive my car because I trust him. He knows that if he wrecks my car he will have to buy me another one just like it! He has gotten a speeding ticket in my car and since the ticket was not in my name I do not have to pay a premium on my insurance. In regards to a collision, my insurance covers anyone whom I give the keys to which is a definite plus.

I don't know how I would tell him no without offending him. I would just be honest about it...Just remember you CAN say no...driving is a privilege and it is YOUR car.

Thats my problem, he can't afford to replace his car let alone mine and he doesn't have insurance, mine covers all pple that drive my car so if he got a ticket or crashed id be covered but my insurance would go up insane amounts right? I do say no most the time, I just feel bad because he gets so offended :(

If he crashed your car then your insurance will go up but not if he gets a ticket. I would never have let him drive my car in the first place if he is financially irresponsible. I would put out some kind of ultimatum. Does he have a job? Is he in school? Are there means for public transportation..bike paths, trains, buses?

If he doesn't have a job I would say I will gladly drive you to interviews and once you have a job/can prove an income then I might consider sharing my vehicle again. Until then he should look into public transportation. If there is a want there is a way even if it isn't the most comfortable. I have lived many years without a car and I used the city bus and rode a bike. I do not live in NYC or a place that has great public transportation but I made it work because I couldn't afford a car.

Yea, he does all that, but I mean whenever we go out together, I'm the one that picks him up and he asks :P

I bought my ex-wife 3 cars which she wrecked. Needless to say the quality of vehicle went down after each wreck.

He's not going to be okay, he thinks he's a good driver.

You just have to be firm. It's not open for discussion. Why can't he get his own car?
