Personally, I've never heard a man I've known - either through college, university or work - have that sort of mentality.

Not every woman does, but you're being dishonest if you think that MOST women don't want that, especially women who have decided that they're ready to settle down and find a husband and start a family. When a girl is "just out having fun", then her standards are lower - she's more likely to look for excitement (hence more likely to go after hot bad boys), but she won't necessarily look for the items on her "husband list" during her "fun phase."

It's when she's "looking to settle down" that the "husband list" comes out, and because most women have waited until her 30s to get to that point, chances are she's been to college and has a career and she feels entitled to a higher-class lifestyle. Plus, if, during her "fun phase", she was able to attract a hot guy (even though it wasn't a serious relationship), and another time she was able to attract a rich guy, and another time she was able to attract a high-status guy - in the minds of a lot of women, if she was able to get that once or twice before, then she feels that that's what she's entitled to going forward, and certainly in an IMPORTANT relationship like a husband, she's GOT to have those things, otherwise she'll be "settling." And she wants a man who can give her that high lifestyle that she experienced - even if it was only for a few weeks of her "fun phase" - because she feels that she deserves that. Ultimately, she's competing for the Top 5% of men, and she's competing against women who are younger and who are much happier to be moms and housewives (and much better prepared for that role), and those Top 5% of men are far less likely to choose a career woman who is older and more entitled.

As I said in my first sentence, this is NOT true of ALL women. There are certainly women who are able to accept the reality of the level that they are at, and are able and willing to accept men on their same level, and even though they may not live a high lifestyle, such couples can do well together.

But the women who can't accept that, at 35, her SMV is far lower than her value at 25 (and can't accept that her degree and career make zero difference), then those women aren't likely to be able to attract the kind of men they want (and feel they deserve), and if they "settle" for a "lesser" man, then she's likely to be bitter and resentful and that relationship isn't likely to last long-term.

This isn't a rare phenomenon - you see it everywhere. My female friends talk about it a lot, my sister's friends talk about it a lot, my guy friends' wives and girlfriends talk about it a lot with their friends, etc. YouTube is full of videos, and the web is full of articles that talk about this - many written by women.

I didn't answer above, as I don't think choosing either is accurate.

I think a lot of women do find the cliche "tall dark handsome man" to be appealing, its commonly known for a reason.

I don't think most women are too bothered by wallet size, I think most women want a guy thats hard working, but I dont think it's purely about how wealthy a guy is.

I think personality definitely plays a bigger role in attraction for women, but if all things in personality and work ethic are equal, the physical attraction then becomes a more prominent factor in my opinion.

It's part joke, part trope and part myth.

Incels and femcels are a separate trope altogether. They are people whose main disability is their inability to form meaningful relationships.

"Tall, dark, handsome" is basically every romantic novel ever, talk.
