Why did I have to strip off in the shop?

Question

I'm trying to pay for stuff at the checkout but I couldn't get my card to work, for some reason the machine wasn't reading it. Then the cashier told me "strip down facing me"' . I didn't know why I had to take my clothes off but did it anyway. My card still didn't work and security made me leave. Has this happened to anyone else?

It’s part of the anti static interference check.

No it's never happened to me. I never have a problem with my credit card.  I made sure I got a card with the chip so I only have to insert my thing in the slot.
