Can someone actually sense that they are being watched?

I ran across this claim when I picked up one of my half brother's survival books. It was written by a Special Forces Vietnam veteran.

Yes you can. One time when I was having a hard time at university and was just wasting time (I would just not go often) I was returning back home early and I didn't know if my mom was there or not. And I felt something so I was very careful and snuck around the back where I got cornered by two cops who were looking for burglars. I never saw them or heard them but I just knew something was not right I felt I was in danger. I've had experiences like that before too. I can just tell when I'm in danger in some way. But if it was something innocent like a medical study or a test or so then there's a chance I wouldn't get that internal warning. I might still suspect something but only based on logical conclusions not instinct.

Yes. Other than "just having the gift", there are other ways to sense this. One of the simplest is by hearing very slight changes in the echo (or lack thereof) from your surroundings. This is one of the first skills the blind are taught. If an area is "echoey" and suddenly it isn't, something has moved into the area, something which has a surface that can absorb sound and cut the echo, typically a person.

Just depends on how good your peripheral vision is.
From behind or something? No way.
Eye placement factors in. Wider set eyes = wider angle of view.
And central intelligence spies and whatnot are trained to notice these things, so anyone can become more aware if they want to, probably.

Not sure if they can actually sense that they are being watched, but they might pick up on other things, such as a slight sound off to the side, or whatever.
