Do you keep your pets fenced in your yard or do they run amok freely?

Unleashed dogs are a top pet peeve of mine from a long history of bad experiences. I’ve trained service dogs for the disabled off and on since the 90’s. I’ve seen close to everything in public, including police who couldn’t control their K9’s coming after my dog until third call and too damn close a call. Mine froze at end of long line first request=rockstar. Grown men and loose dogs (because of the type of people who let them loose, zero control or effort training) are the worst behaved ——‘s. This one hit a nerve. Just had to vent that out. lol
No i fully agree
When we had a dog, we did not like to let him run in the yard cause my mom planted raspberries there and he kept eating them and throwing up and then eating them again, not realizing they were the problem. Our dog was incredibly dumb, except if I accidentally stepped on him, he understood it was an accident and never blamed me for it.
Ong i shouldn't laugh but that last sentence made me laugh haha
Glad I made you laugh : )
There was a pit bull chained up in my town. I used to run past the house in the morning and the dog would go nuts barking and running at me. He was attached by chain to an eyebolt screwed into a piece of trim on the side of the house. One morning he ripped the piece of trim right off the house and started chasing me. There were a couple of cars in the road so I kept the cars between me and the dog. I finally ran away but I came back later with my car and I wanted to make a pancake out of that dog.
Ong this is so scary! I was chased by a great dane. Everything i ran on top of, he jumped up there with me. One of the Scariest moments of my life. As a kid, a german shepard broke loose from his chain during a bday party. He was being taunted by other kids waving candy in his face. He mauled so many kids that day. My cuzzo got his neck and back bit. I ran so fast that day that inran home through traffic and almost got hit by a car but didn't care because i wanted to escape the dog. I've ran from many animals in life. I like animals but from a distance. And ong i got chased by a rottweiler, golden retriever and a chihuaha. Those little suckers are the hardest to escape cause you dont see he chihuahua comin 😭🤣💀
I dont think you realize how bad they are. Its not nice like mi chico from taco bell. When they bite, they dont let go. They just grip on and you're running wih one still attached to your leg. Their teeth is like little vamp teeth
Oh lmao. My badd 🤣
Yes, I know what you mean, I use to go for walks and one time this woman let her 2 Rottweilers outside so I took her address and sent a complaint to the City Mayor also there was 1 Rottweiler who came out and both owners were looking at me, These people make no sense and should have their dogs taken off of them when I was a baby in a stroller, my mom had me in the City park walking me, but the dog jumped
on me scared me and to this day I have a fear of dogs
@DizzyDesii We have a Maltese and are always on a leash
Wow i am so sorry you experienced that
@DizzyDesii Thanks for the MHO :)
you're surely welcome :)

If I had a dog, which I’m to busy to have, then the first thing for me to do is have my dog (Cane Corsi) trained very well. I wouldn’t say he wouldn’t be fenced but I also wouldn’t risk the lives of others in my neighborhood so training it would be.
I don’t think I could leave my dog unintended also for reasons that my dog could get out of hand.
I know I don’t like Messi g with anyone else’s pets that’s off the leash and running loose, so I’d definitely be sure to have my pet trained, leashed and submissive to my commands.
I don’t need no cujo action going on.
Lmao speaking of cujo, have you seen the movie Mans Best Friend. Just watched this weekend, that mf was evil
Adding it to my list to watch! Thank you for the recommendation. 😊
Not as good as cujo but a bit better because it takes place in different settings around town instead of some old garage and house haha
That reminds me of this one time (this happened a few years ago) where this woman was mauled to death by four loose pitbulls while she was going for her morning jog. It was somewhat of big story at the time.
A lot of people here don't know how to take care/keep track of their pets.
My dogs stay in the backyard (obviously, fenced in). They have escaped a few times, but they're not scary attack dogs, so I've never had to worry about them hurting someone.
My moms ex used to keep pitbulls. One was tall like a dang great dane. He was mixed breed and had the fur that looked like a reeses pieces mix. He was apparently half pit half lab but mmm I don't know. Anyways, he’d break loose from the backyard and we’d come home at night to find him jumping over bushes like a dang reindeer when we shined the headlights on him. I was scared af 🤣
I don't have dogs, I have house cats.. So my animals definitely stay inside. I get how you feel though. Check with your local laws they could be breaking the law letting them be free like that. In my state, they either need to be in a fenced in yard, or tied up if they are outside.
And shock collars are evil and barbaric.. No wonder those dogs are mean.
Yea one day his dogs are gonna shock the crap out of him. I live in the countryside so maybe thats why he gets away with it
I guess. its still messed up.. I am so sorry you have to put up with that.
Your neighbor is an asshole I rescued a pit years ago he was the sweetest and smartest dog but he would kill any animal including a female dog in heat and he was a killer. It use to piss me off because people would let there dogs run loose and I’d try and walk him quick and get him back inside and people would try telling me their dog was friendly like there wasn’t anything to worry about. They would try and get mad because I would have to kick their dog and send it flying to keep my dog from getting a hold of their dog
Yea i rescued a rott pup but was scared to go near it. I still fed it tho haha
If a dog bites just once, that person can insist it be put down. Maybe you should make him aware of that!
I would never let my dogs run around freely unless it is in the park where I can keep an eye on them. They are also trained never to go up to people they don't know.
Oh wow didn't know
ALL my household companions are 'rescues' ... I've spent MUCH of my life employed in interactive 'risk management' borne of 'contextual insightfulness'. Only the dog is permitted in our fenced back yard. Our brother & sister cats (inherited from a beloved deceased church Elder) are indoors only, in light of local rabies and coyotes.
Rescues as in you rescued them or they rescued you?
Animals who through no fault of their own were at least, surrendered. It has been my experience that with rare exceptions, they had love to share and their prior captor/caretakers were apparently unable to prioritize and reciprocate. If one truly loves another lifeform... both are willing to "make do" with the resources to be shared... if each senses the other's devotion to their companionship.
I have two German shepherd dogs and I never let them run amok. They're fenced in when they're in my garden.
I believe it's really cruel to shock a dog. People shouldn't have dogs if they can't train them on command. I just need to tell my dog to stay, and they wouldn't go out of my garden. It's possible to train a dog not to step one paw past your garden
People need to train their dogs to be obedient instead of resorting to cruelty.
Yea that guy is awful
Notice how you blatantly use pit bulls. Yet pitbulls have an 87% temperament rate. That’s higher than the golden retriever. Deeming pitbulls more tolerant and patient. You are suckered by headlines that are bought and news that is sold….. deeming you, there target audience…. Drama
No im referring to the dogs i had a situation with. Even a chihuaha and you dont see that in headlines
I try to keep my Great Dane out has much as possible, but he is still a puppy and can get things off of the counter now, so he is in his kennel most of the day, till I am off. I do pull him out when I am on break and lunch. I have tried to keep him out while I work, but he still thinks he is a tiny puppy and tries to get in my lap. He is 150lbs now
Damn 150 is a puppy 😭 I got chased by a great dane and I don't know if he was a puppy but his owner just laughed as he chased me and i ran screaming SIR GET YOUR DOG! SIR PLEASE GET YOUR DOG
Yea im sure that dog was playin with me but i fear animals too muchv to play lol. I was tryna get away
U know the little doggies in the carry on bags? Im even afraid of those 🤣
I don’t have any dogs, and I was attacked by one when I was really young. I stay away from them.
Absolute same
Well, we mostly let our cat roam around freely, but she never leaves the back yard. If she does, she sticks close to the front porch. If she ever goes into the neighbor's yard it's to take a dump on their lawn (by the way, we didn't know she was doing that until just recently. So far they haven't noticed lol.). She's very much an outdoor cat but she sticks very close to home. I prefer it if she stayed inside, but my family lets her out all the time so whatever I guess...
Lmao
I just a ha cat and she rules the house and doesn't go outside.

Lol she look like she cussin a mf out like Samuel L in that last pic
Lmao
People who let their pets run freely and attack other people are irresponsible pet owners in my opinion.
I agree. Thats why they need a fenced in yard
I live on a ranch 20 miles from town. My dogs don't go outside of earshot (usually) and it's nearly a mile to the next house so... My yard doesn't need a fence?
But when we are in town visiting friend or if my parents are babysitting then, they have to both stay in a fenced in yard, and because the little one will not respect a fence... Or 2 fences in this case, he is also on a cable.
2 fences lmao wow he's strong
Not strong, just small and determined
I always kept all mine inside the house including big dogs like German Shepherds and Dobermanns. I didn't put them in the yard since I'd be worried about them escaping or I'd feel cruel if I chained them up.
Also worried they might get fleas if they just hung out in the yard most of the day. So I always kept them inside the house. I think that'd be the case even if I owned like a tiger. I'd want to keep it inside the house.
Well at least you're being responsible. But i couldnt sit inside with a dog. I’d stay running 🤣
Used to run freely till they started running away and attacking the neighbors bull.
Neighbor came close to shooting them and I would not fault him if he did. Mad bull loose because of my dog, that mad bull can kill
Dogs now fenced in
Yea bulls are jusr as nuts
My rabbits are free roam in my place. Also I do have my porch blocked off and have a dig box on it for them. It's pretty much the best setup for domestic rabbits.
Ahh nice
My dog is behind a 6' PVC fence with locked gates. If my dog is in the front yard he is on a leash. I love him too much to just let him roam free. It only takes a split second for a dog to run in the street and get hit by a car.
Oh wow
I have an indoor dog. She's free indoors but always leashed when being walked outdoors. Here it is illegal to not have your dog on a leash. It's a leash law violation that results in a fine. Check the laws in your state
Oh wow okay
Mostly on the leash. I have to. My dog destroyed the fence when he wasn't on the leash.
To be fair, someone tried to get in our yard, while the gate was locked.
Dang how did he destroy the fence
Well, he's a big dog. And he's very protective. He doesn't like people he doesn't know.
That is scary. I do not have pets but I would not let them terrorize others.
Yea very scary moment
It’s a cat, not actually mine but I’m adopted.
it’s free to roam and chase stuff.
If a person gets hurt tho by the cat would you be responsible? Or whoever owns it
Nope it’s a cat zero responsibility for cats.
Woww
Well I do t have pets or a home to have a pet run amuck in but if I did they would be as free as bird. And possible eat a few birds in the process. Haha!
Lmao
I used to let them run around by themselves but I technically wasn't supposed to. I could keep them off the leash, but I was supposed to run after them and keep an eye on them.
This was when I was a kid, of course.
Also, they weren't aggressive or mean. If they were mean, they would have had to stay on the leash all the time.
Sounds good
Thanks
Technically yes. But once the gates open, they have free range of my property
Is your property that huge? It sounds so big the way you said it
Not huge. 14 acres. Girl i dont even wanna do the math of how many football fields that is hahaha
I have a pet rabbit so its not much of a problem if it roams freely but indoors only. Gotta keep an eye on that sneaky mf outside.
Haha
When I finally buy my farm. I will have to get dog's. And they will run free. But I will also have house dog's. And they will only run around when they have to use the bathroom. That guy is an idiot.
Well i’ll visit your reataurant virtually 🤣 Cause if i visit in person, i’ll be too busy running from animals to eat haha
Oooohhhh okay yay i can visit again lmao
I don't believe in electric fences. I thi I they're cruelty to animals. Ni have a decent sized backyard that is fenced in. My dog can run around there freely.
I didn't mean an electric fence. He had a wooden fence but he had some type of electric collar around his dogs necks
Yea a lot of dogs wanna play and say hi. But i can't tell the difference so i run away regardless haha
Even the licks freak me out although inknow they mean no hard. Im just afraid of animals
If I had doggies they'd be in a fenced yard and I'd walk them on a leash
Thats good
Our dog run is fenced, with a doggy door that leads into the house.
Aww thats cute
It sleeps inside, but can roam around outside during the day. Doggy.
Is it likely to chase passebyers
Oh I mean the garden! Not the actual street. I am more worried about the cars than the people passing by.
Oh yea that would be a sad day
😂😂 yeah. I love her.
I had a pet dog who was allowed to run freely in my yard; assuredly she was no pitbull or rott neither did she attack anybody.
I see
They stay in the fenced in area.
Thats the more responsible thing to do
If I’m walking with them then off the leach but in the back when I’m not home
I see
I keep the cat inside the house. She's not even willing to go to the yard.
Oh wow haha
My cats do NOT go outside. Too many cars pass by at speed near me.
Oh dang
Wow i see why you're terrified
Bunny yep, but I had a cat too. Cat goes where it pleases.
Have you contacted local police and animal control?
This has been going on for years. Like over 10 years. Im sure people have reported him but he's a country man and city limit rules prob dont apply to him
@DizzyDesii city rules apply to everyone. Likely none of the neighbors have the balls to report him.
I have indoor cats. One will roam a little if let out, but he's basically still an indoor boy.
Thats crazy. My little pooch runs free but he's pretty mellow and wouldn't bite anyone. But sometimes he bolts over to my one neighbors house to mark his territory 😂
Lol see i’d be running like crazy 🤣 i dont care if its the size of a purse dog haha
Haha he would run away too, he's shy
Oh great that makes for an easier escape haha
Freely. Putting a dog or animal in a cage is torture. I hate people that do that. 😡
A fence is not a cage. People pit a fence around their house all the time… front and/or backyard
A fence around the house is fine.
Yea thats what i was referring to. Not a cage
I keep my cat indoors 24/7 because we have lots of predators that prowl around at night.
Irish law requires that outside the home dogs must be on a leash. In the countryside too many sheep are killed by unleashed dogs.
Oh wow
I let my fish run around amok.
Lmao run or swim
Fish with legs 🤣
I've only ever had cats and they're free to roam.
Fenced yard and always walked on a leash.
THats good
You talked pets i was searching you in my house
You tryna call me a dawg? Cause its a dog eat dog world in these streets yo
You are wild cat
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My dog lives and sleeps in our beds lol
Our pet stays within our compound
Thats good
Wow you guys are having pets!
Huh? I dont have a pet
Fenced
Good
Fenced in definitely
But cats cannot be contained outside
True
